For the power supply, just go to your local thrift shop and look for a 12v DC PSU with at least 1A. If you go to goodwill all power supplies and cords are usually $0.50.
This brings the total cost of parts to $43.05 USD not including the slider.
If you're going to use a real Arduino, rather than a 3D printer board, you can get a bluetooth module for the Arduino to control it using your phone or a tablet. Get one here for an extra $8:
