Great stuff! How did you decide how much of each pigment to use to mix the teal color?

Wow-that’s a great question! In the beginning (before I knew this color recipe was a perfect mix for my painting goals) I just went with logic-teal/turquoise is mostly a blue/ green color, so they are probably the greatest quantities. The choice of ultramarine green shade to lessen the warmth from the PY74 in the permanent green light paint meant I really only needed a touch of that, hence it being the smallest quantity in the recipe. That there is a violet pigment in teal at all was a big surprise to me (can YOU see purple/cool red in greenish blues??), so I knew it mustn’t be in the recipe in large quantity so that’s why I went with a small portion. To get the various tints, tones, and shades of the color as I worked through the piece I just added various blacks, whites, and pale browns & greys to what I called the master teal/turquoise color. By the end of the piece I had mixed this master color so many times (there’s A LOT of teal/turquoise on this painting!) I had the proportions down pat, no matter how much more I needed to mix:) 🤓
