You mention that tags likely aren't necessary for smaller vaults, and in other videos have also mentioned "reworking" your vault as you did with switching to tags for some of the MOCs you didn't want...I'm curious, how do you go about restructuring your vault when you decide on a new system like that? Are there any specific tools or methods you use? I imagine for swapping some MOCs to tags, you can easily find all the files which link to the MOC, but would you need a script to then add the tag to each file? I wonder this a lot whenever watching videos on Obsidian, people always talk about doing these kinds of reworks and it seems like an exhausting task, especially if the vault is large.

Thanks Sergio. As a beginner, I'd like to understand the impact of using [[Tag]] or #Tag for tagging your notes (I am specially interested on applying this for my PARA based system)

This Mastering Obsidian playlist has been a great help for me. I've started using Obsidian since a couple of weeks ago, and it's been quite overwhelming because I'm a non-coder, but your channel has helped me a lot to understand the basic functions and how to go about.

I've been using Obsidian for over a year. Indeed, when I had few notes, tags were not necessary for me. Now I humbly return to tags. And from a purely linear structure of Zettelkasten to PARA. Thank you for the valuable and inspiring video

Glad I made time to come to this one today. I realized I made a mistake. I migrated my Notion info over, and as I was doing the backlinks and organizing it, I was *adding* backlinks that weren’t in the text of what I migrated. Thinking, like, what can I attribute to this so they link and kinda guessing/making it up. When I went to look at my graph, it’s…. kind of a mess. I thought “I wonder if that’s what the tags thing is about!” and it’s look like I’m right. Have to go back and change a lot of it to tags, and only keep the actual content as backlinks and hopefully it will look like less of a single everything-is-related-to-everything mess of a graph. ❤ **After watching the whole video, though, and watching you search, I don’t understand how tags are any different than backlinks, since all it’s doing it connecting things together. It’s like the same function?

We can have a LINK/Tag that when clicked takes us (1) to-n-fro between files in a folder, (2)to-n-fro between folders in a vault. But can a link/tag connect to-n-fro between files/folders in "different Vaults"??!!

Hi sergio, thanks for the video. I have a couple of questions: 1) in the first use case, what's the difference between a nested tag and a (sub) folder? 2) in the second use case, what's the benefit of searching for a tag instead of searching for a folder? thanks again

Side question for you here. This is the first video where it appears that you are using your new shire microphone. From a viewers perspective (mine) the sound is dramatically better than the other mic you were using. However, that is just my perspective. I’d like to know how much better do you think this mic is in your previous mic? Thanks

That’s great that the sound quality is better to you, you’re the first to have mentioned it! Are you asking if I prefer this mic(shure SM7B) over the rode VMP+? If so then yes I do. But it comes at a few extra costs. Not only is the shure much more expensive, but you also need some sort of preamp for it. You either use some audio interface that has a decent preamp such as the wave xlr or you use a weaker preamp such as the zoom H5 but you’re gonna need a seperate purchase to properly drive this mic which would be either a cloudlidter or a fethead. If you don’t yet have any of those then its much simpler and cheaper to get something like the wave xlr which can easily drive the shure. I use the shure because the room i record in has terrible acoustics and is not treated in anyway so using a dynamic mic like the shure is a no brainer. If I had a treated room I’d use something like an NTG4+ on a boom pole off camera. Hope this helps!

@@FromSergio Thank you for the detailed reply. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised you put a little extra effort into responding to my question so accurately. That is one of the reasons why I am transitioning much of my KZitem viewing regarding obsidian over to your channel. You cover so many topics and such good detail it is a great fit for the way that I consume information. Not too general and not jumping down a developmental rabbit hole which can be tempting for people with that skill set. I am a little nerdy about sound quality, especially in KZitem videos. I’m surprised so many people ignore that aspect of their communication. However, honestly your previous RODE mic was definitely a good one and I had no issues with that sound quality. However, the new SHURE mic has some significant and noticeable sound quality advantages. I am not a KZitemr, but I like quality equipment and quality sound and that kind of locked it in for me as my microphone of choice.

I may purchase the Elgato wave XLR Mixer to service both a preamp and for some additional control. Do you know anything about that particular device? Thanks for all the help

I'm so sorry I missed this, unfortunately the dashboard doesn't prioritize comments I've responded to, so yours slipped down but I knew I had a conversation somewhere that I unfortunately forgot to get back to! Thanks so much for the kind words, i do try to help out where I can and this is a topic I particularly like to talk about! Shure is good, I'm sure (no pun intended! ;)) that there are similar sounding mics at maybe half the price but my "studio" is not treated so a very gain hungry dynamic mic such as the shure actually makes a lot of sense. I do have to have it in front of me which is not ideal but its either that or worse quality so not a hard choice. I completely agree with you that too many people neglect sound which is so crucial. As a viewer I also notice it immediately and its hard to sit through a video with mediocre sound quality! I have the Elgato wave XLR. I have 2 of them actually. One for the studio and another for my work desk. It's solid and not too pricey. Can easily drive an SM7B without a need for an external amp such as a cloudlifter. The software is also very good. I have only had wave XLR and Zoom H5, wave xlr beats the zoom at a cheaper price albeit not portable. Hope this helps :)

Hi Philip, it's a good question, this was actually something I wanted as well when I adopted obsidian. I remember back then another user made a feature request to obsidian and I can see that same feature request is still active with comments so I can only assume it hasn't been implemented yet. Here's the link to that feature request: forum.obsidian.md/t/assign-tag-to-multiple-files/9750/7

On Joplin desktop you can multi select notes and perform certain operations. Not sure about bulk tagging. But once tagged, can bulk export MD files for obsidian.
