yeah make no mistake, if you are seeing this thinking the brushes is his secret consider that this man probably could paint the same thing with a round brush and his off hand given more time. This is an incredible display of skill and observation, the brush is only making this process quicker and more pleasant to look at, not easier.

I find it incredible that thanks to what you publish, hundreds of people discover the passion of drawing and I find that you really help people like me to understand the mechanics of drawing and your style. You should continue the videos where you explain your actions and thoughts during the process, it allows us to understand better. You are really someone I really appreciate, keep it up!

I just started getting into digital art about 2 weeks ago and doing daily training, even if it's just a bit, while also looking around youtube and generally the internet to find tutorials and inspiration on how to get started and going. Now that I watched this video you're definitely my favourite on first impression. Your calm explanations and your style of painting is really speaking to me. Also, the background music is gorgeous. Thanks for providing such excellent content for free, I will definitely watch a lot of your other videos in the next few weeks.

Right now I am researching how to start with digital art and I've come across this video. And what stood out to me was how much more organic your workflow is with the mixer brush compared to other workflows that rely heavily on drawing and ordering the (to be painted) components of an artwork first. If anything, I would love to start right away with the mixer brush, but my first attempts proved to me that this is more difficult than anticipated. Thank you for the video!

Most artists I know (atleast the good ones ;D) are their own worst critics. Glad you got out of your funk! Having recently been through it myself i can definitly sympathize and agree. "Do this much everyday!!!" rlly doesnt help when you're having trouble. In my experience finding a pace that feels close to effortless and sticking to that until you feel you can handle more is much better than forcing yourself and loosing joy in what you're doing.

Thank you so much for your explanations regarding value groups and bounce lights etc. Color is my weakness and I'm getting frustrated trying to paint in greyscale but I have difficulties reading in greyscale so as much as possible I want to straight away work with colors. It's extra difficult tho esp when I haven't master values yet. I would love to see more of your techniques when you put down colors without messing up the values.

It seems like you always check navigator window to save the composition and dynamic. I used to do the same at art school in my younger years but in traditional kind of way - just by stepping from my work. It's not a new thing at all but it's clearly visible in your working process, especially with color selection. I like the perception of the place your painting gives to me. 👍🏻

Hi Jordan, great video. I really love your work, it's really inspiring actually. I liked the last video you did where you kind of critiqued yourself. Would you do any more critique style videos? I also would like seeing more about concepting, like how you come up with ideas, which ideas are worth developing, and like what your job as a concept artist entails.

Great video! Glad you are doing some again. It is great to see the process between all these great looking Instagram posts :) Little tip: You can press 'Ctrl(cmd on Mac) + Shift + alt + e' To apply the image to a new layer. It is a minor thing but saves a bit of time.

Thanks for explaining the mixer brush, got value out of this. Also, not sure how useful this is since you already have a solution, but an alternative to 'Apply Image' is Ctrl+Shift+C and Ctrl+Shift+V which is Copy All and Paste in Place respectively. Could save you on a shortcut and menu dialog box ~

QUESTION: Do you keep wet 0 and load 100 for entire painting or you prefer to change it after blocking stage? Plus i really find this so cool to paint with mixer brush but can you give in some more depth about advantages of using mixer brush over normal brush with pressure sensitivity?

Its really kind of you to ask what we preferred on your video. but for me, this kind of video where you just casually sketching while explaining and share some stories is what make me stay here. the kind of videos that I can watch before sleep, so I can learn something everyday. Its calming and also give me new sight how profesional work. Keep up your spirit and energy!

I've been trying to get into landscape painting but I've found the mixer brush to always lag horrendously. Very annoying when I'm used to working quickly. Do you know of any way to get around this? Thanks
@JordanGrimmer

Sure, I mention in the video about making sure Sample All Layers isn't turned on and only really using it on one layer, after using Apply Image. If that doesn't help, maybe trying changing the brush you're using, use a very basic brush that comes with Photoshop for example, and see if that helps.
@PresidentOfSpace

Is "apply image" essentially the same as using copy-merged and pasting the flattened canvas into a new layer? Seems similar but with obvious a few extra options like pasting it in as a multiply layer or whatever, unless im missing something. I've just got it ingrained in my head select all + shift ctrl C + ctrl v and im curious if it's essentially the same thing as apply image.

I guess am a bit late to the party, besides all the positive things I can say to a fellow artist I do have to say that after importing the brush to photoshop *it doesn't seem to behave the same way as a mixer brush should, anyone got the fix for this?* searched all over but couldn't find any answers

After an hour of having a similar problem, i wonder if its because of your option bar -- the one where you get to change the wet, load, and flow percentages. Double check that
