I just have to tell you that stumbling upon your videos a week and a half ago is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I’ve dealt health issues for over half my life, but about five years ago I developed health anxiety and, more specifically, cardiophobia (a term I didn’t know existed until I found you). I’m now at a point where I realized that despite having health issues that need/have needed addressing, it’s the ANXIETY that really stole my life away and leave me in a state of misery. Now I finally have hope that no matter what’s going on with my body, I can relate with it in a different way and start actually living my life again. Question/content request for you- what would your advice and guidance be for people with diagnosed conditions who ALSO suffer from health anxiety? I’m so grateful for you taking the time to create this content and for everything you do. Hoping to book a session soon! Thank you so much, Cherelle 💛

great question, I have the same! 12 years ago I got sick which is cured and managed. But because of that health scare I developed health anxiety. Every time I look for books or videos about health anxiety those are almost always for people that do not have illnesses. So even tho what I have is not a visible condition that requires medicine (only periodic check up) it's still something that can give me symptoms. So it is not nothing, and it's not only in my head. However, I know that h.a. does make me feel everything and anything 100x worse and that is the reason that I feel like can never relax and enjoy being or trust my body. But so i think that it does require another approach than health anxiety without real health conditions.

I’m happy to hear that you handled this in a way that didn’t escalate your anxiety! ❤️ Deep down I know that there are some scares, but that’s normal, and that’s ok.

It’s only a health scare if you let it be a scare. I’ll cry when it’s time to cry, and I’ll feel pain when it’s time to feel pain. But until then, I’m not going to allow my thoughts to give me pain. Even if my brain hears bad news, if I’m not in pain, I will wait until there is pain. And I’ll die when it’s time to die.

Similar story. A few months ago I was showering and when I looked down, I saw what looked like a very dark mole under my toe nail. Of course I freaked out and started googling (which I know I shouldn’t) but of course google said it was a melanoma. I spiraled for weeks until I was able to see a dermatologist. Turns out it was just a bruise!! 🥴🥴 I suffered greatly for those few weeks thinking it was spreading throughout my body.

Hi Cherelle, thanks for sharing your recent experience. I recently completed one of your 1st online HA master class courses online, and you we're absolutely amazing. Every week I learnt something new about my HA and every week I started to feel a little better after each session. Your course gave me the springboard and confidence I needed to get back into work after 9 months off due to HA. I started my new job on Monday and yes I have had a few wobbles because I still have a bit of background anxiety but I'm starting to enjoy it more and more everyday. I Can't thank you enough, I learnt more from you in 6 weeks than I did going to counselling for months on end. Thanks again. 👍 I highly recommend Cherelle if anyone is looking to do therapy with her or go on one of her courses. X

Hi Cherelle. Thank you so much for this video. I am currently in recovery for HA and your videos have helped more than my actual therapist. I am also going through a similar situation that I have been avoiding, and your video gave me the push to finally ask for a doctors appointment. Seeing how calm you are is an inspiration and gives me hope that one day I will be where you are. I wish you all the best.

I had a traumatic situation in January 2021 ,COVID related, and hadn't slept for more than an hour everyday and it's spiralled out of control to the point were I was put on antidepressants for 18months, I'm a terrible overthinker now with health anxiety... I stopped the ADs October 2022 and I still think they're in my system, I've been dizzy the day a started them and I'm off them almost 2 yrs and I'm still dizzy to this day but it's possible that it's my anxiety that's making me dizzy

Hi Cherelle I love your videos and although this is not related to this subject I wanted to just share this with you and maybe if you have the time get your opinion. I have suffered health anxieties for years but thanks to you and your brilliant videos I am starting to get over it very slowly but surely. I haven’t googled symptoms or body checks for over 2 months now but I have just received my two yearly Bowell cancer screening test, I am so unsure what to do as in the past I have always done it but spent the following two weeks while waiting for results in a constant state of anxiety, when the letter comes I always get shaky and my heart rate soars just looking at the envelope, now do I just not do it as my anxiety is beginning to get under control or do the test and risk a huge setback while waiting for results. I only have two more to do before I reach the age where screening stops, I really am in two minds whether to it or ignore it. I would be very pleased to get some feedback either from you or your lovely subscribers. Thanks again for the huge help that you have been to me and sorry for the essay.

My personal advice would be to look back at each time you had a screening. And the results each time came back fine. All the time you spent worrying for it to be nothing. Instead try your best to fill the time you would worrying with things you actually enjoy. Why pre worry about something you can't currently control. The results will come and when they do you should deal with it then. You should also think that you get screened every 2 years. IF and it's a big IF something comes back from it. It'd be something that can be dealt with immediately because you're monitoring it. You can do this. Stay off Google. Float your way through it. You got this.

Hello, I actually had a pelvic ultrasound today due to sore lower back ache, spotting, right ovary pain like the usual ovulation pain but more often. So I can see the scan online but no report yet. So I’m comparing the ovaries to my US in 2021, plus googling on internet to see what ovarian cancer looks like on an US. I’m at home in bed, it’s 11pm here in Australia and thinking I have cancer. I see my dr for results on Monday. I’ve been tired, shortness of breath for months. I got out of a toxic abusive relationship a year ago so is what I’m experiencing from stress and not cancer I don’t know.

@@shanehall98 it’s the lesser of the two but I would still worry about high cholesterol and high liver enzymes it can lead to other problems. It’s something which can be improved by a lifestyle change. Last year the doctor said I had fatty liver and I freaked out and completely changed my diet. Hopefully my fatty liver has been reduced but it can cause other serious problems.

For me the doctor said try to eat better to reduce the cholesterol and to drink within a healthy range of 14 units per week. The other thing was I did drink alcohol the night before the test which can lead to higher liver enzymes.

I'm not sure why health anxiety is an isolated term. i'm guessing that everyone that suffers from health anxiety also experiences general anxiety also? If the person stops their anxiety about their health, then they will likely just become anxious about something else no?
