Very well explained... Ma'am, please tell me what should I do if I don't have any compelling reason to get up early and still want to get up early.

That's a great question. It made me think for a while to come up with a helpful answer. 🤔 I believe it’s not easy for anyone to have a 'compelling reason' to wake up right from the beginning, and it can change throughout our life journey. And that’s okay-in fact, it’s perfectly healthy. Finding 'that reason' can be understood as discovering what you love or even who you are. So, I think it's important to take time to reflect on yourself-what you love, what you don’t like, what makes you smile, and what you want to become. Try learning different things, follow your heart, and explore. Sometimes, your reason to wake up doesn’t come automatically, but in the process of learning and exploring, you might find something that gives you purpose. In fact, the process of finding your reason could be your reason to wake up. Consider journaling, reviewing and planning your life or even just your day. I’m not sure if this fully answers your question, but I believe that by asking such a genuine and thoughtful question, you're already on the path to finding your own reason for waking up in the morning. 👍⏰

As a Muslim, our religion has recommended that we wake up early before sunrise to perform the first prayer, which is the fajr prayer, and thank God for the blessings and gratitude. Our Prophet Muhammad also said, (meaning) that waking up early will be blessed and there will be enough time for everything.

Oh yes, early mornings offer a wonderful opportunity for personal reflection and rejuvenation, especially after a restful night's sleep. I typically wake up around 4:00 AM to enjoy some quiet time before work. My morning routine includes activities that help me start the day on a positive note, such as devotion, exercise, and preparing my meals. I also appreciate the cool, refreshing mornings in Jamaica, especially now that the days or so, so hot 🥵, up to 34° C. Thanks to God that I work in an air conditioned environment. As the old Jamaican saying goes, "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." There's certainly a lot of truth in that.

Same with Hinduism, "Brahma Muhurta is from 4 am to 5:30 am and is considered to be an auspicious time of the day. It is believed that getting up early and doing your work within this time frame will pave the way for success.". Especially South Indian(not affected much by religious invasions) Hindu wedding, and all festivals, happen at the early mornings. Our last prayer is at 6PM, after which we do a short prayer before we go to bed. My parents were religious we followed all this, early dinner, early to bed were all mocked by others - who were also Hindus, but now the same concepts are trending XD

As a fellow mom of young kids, I completely understand! Waking up early in the morning became a form of self-care for me. When the kids are very young and not sleeping through the night, waking up early might not be possible. This all absolutely matches with my own experiences. I'm a practicing muslim and we have fajr to pray just before sunrise, and after sun rises it is not recommended to sleep for 45 minutes, as this is the time of the day that you start your work and it is an extremely important period to get ahead as it has a lot of barakah. We also have hadith saying we shouldn't stay up too late after praying the isha, which is the evening/night prayer. All this combined, I've experienced a huge amount of peace and efficiency from my days where I go to bed early and wake up early. You also already wake up on your own after a while, at crazy hours like 4,5,6 AM, and you actually feel energized. The only exception to this is when my work schedule affects me, as I have very little time at evenings to actually do everything I need to do before going to bed early. This also showed me how work and economic state of a person can be a strong, very very hard to change cause for their unhealthy lifestyle, so while I'll absolutely stand by the point of waking up early, I also understand not all people will have the means to do so because you'll feel like a machine after a while and evening activities may also be a big temptation. Great video that touched on all the points I've personally experienced as well. 👍

Well said, and I truly appreciate you sharing what resonated with you and your own morning journey🌞 It’s so true that not everyone can afford waking up early every single day-it doesn’t have to be morning to find balance. For example, even for me, when my kids were younger and needed more care throughout the day and night, I couldn’t wake up early at the time. I believe that finding balance and contentment can be unique for each person. Having a compelling reason to wake up, and the 'Pain of not making a significant change greater than the pain of waking early' resonated deeply for me. In India the time between 4 - 5am is considered auspicious where I grew up and we were told it was a special time and we can retain more of our studies if we wake up at that time. Immediately after waking up is typically when I feel at my worst, physically, mentally and emotionally, so dragging myself out of bed is an ordeal. A few years ago, I did get into the habit of waking between 2-3 AM to have a couple quiet hours alone, but this was mostly fear-motivated. The early schedule was nice in some ways, but I found it stressful to keep up. After a few months, when the weather started getting colder and I started feeling a winter slump in energy and mood, I went back to my normal habits of staying up late to have the night hours to myself. I kind of want to get back to an earlier schedule, but finding a compelling enough reason to wake up is my biggest hurdle.

This is just what I have needed today! Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful video. I’ve been working to shift my life these past few years and keep getting bogged down in details that ultimately aren’t that essential. Thinking back on the more productive times in my life, it is easy to see only in retrospect that I was essentially doing this set of habits stacked together. Trying to remember what had worked, it was difficult to see that a sequence of thoughts and actions got me going and kept me consistent. Off to create some notes to remind future me the next time I wander away from a helpfully consistent set of habits.

I find your video very relatable. I have seen a couple of other videos by people without kids and a partner. Most of them could go to bed as early as 8 or 9pm and still be able to get up to 8 hours of sleep. This just wasn't going to work for me so I couldn't keep up. I heard you say you go to bed at 10pm after having about 30 minutes of catch up time with your husband and I believe that includes time for intimacy 😊 Honestly, women do a lot trying to juggle being mothers, wives and pursuing their personal interests.

Also, my father believes young people don't need more than 3 hours of sleep since he had to sleep almost nothing cuz he had to go to work (cuz of us). I hope when I'm finally free I will be able to sleep and wakeup early.

Your message really touched my heart. I completely understand how there are factors beyond our control that can affect our ideal lifestyle. It might sound cliché, but I always remind myself that this too shall pass. If you continue to believe and wait for the right timing, things will eventually come together. My prayer is with you and your family. This quote always brings me encouragement, no matter the situation: 'God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.' 🙏

I wake up early to meditate everyday. That’s like my coffee for the day. Or you can say, it’s like charging my mobile batt inside me. I feel fresh and ready to go. I cannot function without at least one meditation each day. Most days, I'd meditate twice. My reason for waking up early: To collect my spiritual wealth (peace) from God so I can spend throughout the day.

I have advanced sleep phase disorder for nearly 4 years. I feel sleepy at about 7 pm, but I am usually not able to sleep. Normally, I can sleep before midnight, but I wake up at 4 am and can not go back to sleep. I wish I could sleep 7 hours and wake up at 6 am. I plan to use light therapy device to fix my circadian rhythm. I think you can set your circadian rhythm with light therapy device. Then you do not need will power to wake up at 4:30 am.

My husband also has a hard time falling asleep and sleeping deeply, so I can understand what you must be going through. I've heard that exposure to light, both artificial and from technology, can help reset your body clock. I hope you find your own path to peaceful sleep and a happy morning routine 🙏

As a girl from a brown Household, one thing that irritates me when I try to wake up early morning is that When I wakeup I can't have "Me time " for myself. Once I wake up elder people or parents starts to give me errands to do and I want to give up things I like to do in morning.

Hello Liz, this is my first time in your channel. I'm a mom of 2 boys (6and 4)and used to wake up at 5am for like 3 to 4 months. But no matter how I try now, my body is sooo tired to wake up early now. This is very inspiring for me to do my best to wake up early again. My question is about Journaling coz I always wanted to do this for years now, but I'm wondering what do you do with your old journals? Do you throw it out after or you keep it?

Thank you for sharing this, I tried it before getting up at 5 am, felt good but I gave it up. I'm trying again now for September , I find it hard get to sleep at night , I go to bed , but can't get the sleep needed in, means when I get up at 5 am, I can't go day without a nap, I feel guilty for having the nap, I set the clock for not have more than one hour , I just can't get the sleep in at night when I need it, I keep trying ,

Thank you for sharing your morning/night journey! My husband is just like you-he struggles to turn off his brain, so it takes him a while to fall asleep. He told me that establishing a bedtime routine helps, like avoiding screens, dimming the lights, using soft ambient lighting, and not drinking too much water before bed. Coming from an Asian culture where achievement is heavily emphasized, I used to feel guilty about napping too, but I’ve realized that a short power nap can be very efficient. I hope you find the sleep-wake routine that works best for you! 🌞🌚

First of all, as a mom of four, you have my utmost respect! 💪 I'm so glad you found the video helpful, and I'm rooting for you! I used to avoid waking up early on Sundays to keep my Sabbath, but after learning that breaking the cycle can be less effective for both your routine and health, I've been sticking to my 4:30 a.m. schedule every day, including weekends 🌞
