Cool. I like the idea of barrel connectors. I'm in process of wiring my new layout and they will make everything much easier. Thanks for the tip. A fine video, as always.

Hey, I am thinking about buying a Marx train set, and I was originally trying to choose between a 1940's Tin Litho set with a 999 locomotive or a late 50's/early 60's plastic set with a 490 locomotive. I kind of like the 999 set better - which one do you think is a better buy? Also, how risky is it to buy a Marx train set? What is the maximum price I should pay for an untested set? Are there any things to look out for when buying an old Marx set?

Of the locos that you listed, I like the 999 the best, It isn't too risky buying one, Marx locomotives are pretty bullet proof and they are easy to work on. The main thing that they need is cleaning and lubrication. If you email me at epicmarxtrains@gmail.com I can give you more information, and help you work on it.

Oh, for a 999 set with transformer, I wouldn't pay more than $125.00. Get it for as little as you can though. I have bought 999 sets for as little as $40.00, but that was a really good deal. Especially since it had a hard to find version of the 999.

@@TJsEpicTrainChannel Thanks for all the tips! I am saving some money - I hope to buy one in a few weeks. Maybe someday I will buy a diesel set too...

@@TJsEpicTrainChannel Does that mean that $180 (including shipping) is too high for one that IS tested and working perfectly, with the original box and manual?

@davydigger708 perhaps with the box it might be okay, still seems a little high, but the box and Manuel helps. It's up to you, if you feel that it is worth it, go for it. I might be in really good shape if it still has the box.
