Really appreciate all of your reviews. I currently use a Vatic Pro Prism Flash which replaced the Ronbus R1.16 that my son wanted. How does the Mark Pure compare to the Prism Flash? Also have you tried the Hudef Mage Pro? If so, how does it compare?
@stspickleball
8 ай бұрын
Mage Pro is a solid paddle 100% It's sort of like a CRBN 3x but for way cheaper. So that one is solid for sure if you're ok with a smaller grip length (which I tend to like as I don't really utilize a two-handed backhand much yet) Lastly the Pure is literally a Six Zero DBD for $99 so it's a fully thermoformed version of your Vatic Prism Flash. It will be more powerful, have more pop, and more spin, but it won't be as control-oriented. But if you can handle a thermoformed paddle this will win hand battles far more decisively :)

I was in search of a paddle that had that nice plush feel which translates into great control, but with good power, and enough pop to handle any hard shots at me but not too much pop as to constantly pop the ball up for the opponent to smash it. Been thinking about getting one more solid paddle for my lineup and so my wife has a good one when she comes to open play with me. How would you compare the Mark pure to the hudef? Also my top consideration was the six zero Ruby. Are there strengths to going Ruby over another hudef?
@stspickleball
8 ай бұрын
Honestly between the Ruby and either of the other two it really just comes down to price. The Ruby is 15% ish better than the Pure but for almost twice the cost. The Hudef Viva Pro Gen 2 is VERY power and pop oriented and lacks in the soft game for sure, and the Pure honestly does everything well. The Pure is an all court paddle and feels almost exactly like a Six Zero DBD but for $99 which is just insane, great spin, solid power, solid pop, solid soft game, solid resets, Toray T700... Hard to beat to be honest. I think if I had to recommend a paddle out of the bunch taking price into consideration the Pure is the obvious winner 100%. If price isn't an issue and you want that extra 10-15% on the soft game and spin then you can snag the Ruby, but again I think the Pure is a steal right now.

Zero change shape wise between prism flash and pure. Pure 16mm will be more powerful, more poppy, and have a larger sweet spot, with more spin. Pure 14mm will have a tighter sweet spot than both the prism and the 16mm, it quite a bit more poppy than the 16mm Pure so also harder to control. The benefit of a 14mm usually is going to be if you can control the pop you will have a bigger advantage in hand battles at the kitchen line. 😊

My question is, you test a lot of paddles. What do you use most often? Im kind of thinking something you would recommend wouldn’t be right for me. I’m probably an intermediate player and not very strong. Advanced players recommend something like the 6.0 double black diamond or the 6.0 Ruby, but I don’t do well with those because like I said… not that strong. Would this hybrid paddle be something that would be good for me?
@stspickleball
8 ай бұрын
I think my two recommendations for you would be either the hybrid paddle here the Pure because it’s the lowest swing weight option, had a great sweet spot and is made with Toray Carbon Fiber and will last a long time for the price, or I’d recommend the new Infinity Black Diamond from Six Zero because it’s very low swing weight and will feel fast and easy to use in the hands and has good pop but is still controllable. If you want to spend $99 I’d go with this hybrid paddle and just use it until it falls apart or until you find something that really amplifies a part of your game you need amplified. Alternatively the Six Zero Infinity Black Diamond is $199 after discount code but it is a lot lighter in the hands and will feel easier to maneuver but still has solid pop and middle of the road power. So those would be my top two picks for someone in your position 😊 ultimately I think lessons and understanding the game deeper will help you positionally and mechanically but you do want a good paddle and the two I mentioned are wonderful
