This is a powerful song. My dad was a pastor, and I lost him to cancer when I was 17 years old. I had a lot of questions and doubts, and it has taken a long time to process those feelings. The first time that I met Peder Eide, I was a college student that was still lost in the mess of grief and figuring out how to reconcile what it means to be in this world. I had the privilege of bumping into him quite a few more times over the years at church events, gatherings, and music festivals in the Midwest, and I'm thankful for his presence over the course of my life. Hearing this song reminds me that pain is meant to be felt, and that we aren't meant to have the answers to all of our questions. On the other side of the pain and the grief, there is love and thankfulness for the time that we did have. One way that our parents live on is through us, through the love they gave, the lessons they taught, and the people that we become.

Wow, this is a very powerful song. I struggle with a very severe and debilitating chronic illness and everyday I beg God for help and it’s sometimes hard to understand why this happened to me and why God hasn’t healed me yet. Thank you for putting into words about how so many people feel in times of misery and uncertainty.
