The nylon sticks a little bit but you can peel it off. They use a nylon sheet to absorb a little epoxy and to leave the carbon fiber/epoxy with good finish. It also helps with even distribution of the pressure so the epoxy gets vacuumed out evenly.

It has been decided. I will start playing Cello just so I can buy myself a carbon fiber Cello.

It's called a Release Agent. You can buy it anywhere you get the CF and the resin from. It's a common item Greetings from iran

i am a fiber engineering student .... most composites are cured under a vacum at around 350 degrees F .... the reason they are so expensive is because carbon fiber costs about $25/lb. and the process is labor intensive and takes has alot of fixed costs

I just played a Composite Acoustic today. It was just parlor-sized, but it was louder than most dreadnoghts I've heard.

I've been using a carbon fiber acoustic guitar for years. If you're a performing musician, you understand that not all gigs are performed in humidity controlled environments. If you travel from Florida to Alaska and play gigs along the way, then you're exposing a wooden instrument to extreme changes in humidity and temperature. Carbon Fiber instruments are impervious to this. They do have their own sound, but no matter where the gig is, they will always sound the same, and play the same.

Think of it like reinforced concrete. Super thin carbon strings are steel cables or robs with that keep the building more resistence to tension and stress. Resin is like concrete that makes the building hard and tough. Only both work together can give Carbon fiber strength to rival steel. Yet, Carbon fiber cannot resist penetration and cutting as well as metal because individual carbon fiber is still essentially a fiber.

Yes. To get the excess resin out of the weave it must be vacuumed as well. FYI. =^)

I am used to listening to ppl I'm only 14! HELLO!! I constantly volunteer for charity and school things to help out and I teach flutists and basic music. SO therefore I'm enjoy listening to people (pretty much my job) And instrument's wood has to be approved by the EPA befor they are made so we are not "killing" anything and besides there's a law that states that for every tree that is cut 4 must planted to replace so they actuall save the planet in the pprocess in making the instruments.

It could be a great outdoor cello for acoustic performances in the open. The loud sound can help the performer without any backing to reflect sound. It would be great in case of rain, hail, chilling cold, or blazing heat. However, I would still prefer an electric cello that plugs into an amp for public performances if the weather permitted. ; )

did you notice they made a point that it was stronger than steel and that it was cut with electric sheers, then in the next portion the dude cuts it with a simple pair of scissors... he must be HEMAN!
