I remember these, when they were still releasing them new...wow...old school flashback! Hit me the minute it started, when she said 'aluminum or copper'...since most codes DO NOT allow aluminum wiring to be used in homes anymore, it is actually rare to find aluminum solid strand wiring in retail stores now.

Aluminum wire is still used in transformers found in new microwaves..I'd get mad anytime I strip one and see it's not copper

Hello from Phoenix. In our electrical distribution system, feeder (backbone) cables have to be copper in substations and till the first switch away from it. After that the cables are aluminum. Primary cables that loop through neighborhoods are also aluminum. Unless Engineering tells us otherwise 😅

I work at a factory cutting/stripping & terminating wires and building harnesses for Rheem's air conditioners. It's super cool seeing how our wire is made/spooled before it reaches us (ours come in cardboard barrels). We use all kinds of colors & insulation thicknesses and I've wondered how they put so much stuff on so much wire. We produce hundreds of thousands of feet of wire per day, so it's astonishing to see this part of the process in action.
