I wanna tip my cap to Jayson Tatum for his selfless play. The whole game he was identifying who had the mismatch and making a play to get them the ball. On the stat sheet it looks like Tatum had a bad game but in reality he was deeply impactful on both ends of the court and had he not been selfless he probably would have dug them into a hole because of the tough matchups he was consistently getting especially in the paint. We all knew if Boston's shot was falling they were going to win pretty much no matter what but their defensive drive this game was very impressive, aside from that sloppy stretch they had every Celtic on the court was locked in, even Sam Hauser got a couple of big stops on Luka early. Now I'm just praying Boston doesn't fall into their classic tendencies and become complacent

Hello Jason. Your analysis of NBA basketball is the best I can find out there. I'm a big fan. Two of the best points I learned from you from your previews: First, tatum on center and Washinton and Jone Jr's not efficent above the break threes. Aparently, Mazzular agreed and made a point about this in his Game 1 gameplan. Second, your prediction about two Boston blowouts is on point. Regarding some points in this video, firstly, I think it's really hard to keep the intensity when up 25+ points. Boston didn't play a perfect game, but I think it was a good thing because they now are alert that Mavs are capable of making big runs when they Celtics themselves don't play good basketball. And another good thing is that they showed they can turn it on when they are in danger and in adversity. In terms of adjustment, I think Mavs can try to stay on their guys on defense. But that might mean Tatum is gonna eat as long as he tries to drive or postup, and doesn't settle for contested jumpshots. It is worth trying, but I don't think it is gonna work. Finally, my key takeaway from this year's playoff is that matchups between teams dictates the results more than even you(and me) realized before it happened. Boston Celtics's defense is really built on perimeter defense and rim protection, which is uniquely equipped to defend Mavericks. However, I believe Denver may have a really good chance against the Celtics because Jokic can comfortablly back off Pozingis, applly rim pressure that way and draw extra defender and pass out of it easily. The counter from Boston may be putting Horford on Jokic and playing Pozingis in help position, which means they need to play big and take one of Holiday and White off the court. And Boston do not have a deep center rotation when they are in foul trouble. For Boston, that's less ball handling and creation and worse spacing on offense ,too. In this sense, I think Denver is still really close in terms of contending for Championships. Just the fact that they lost some versatility when losing the 6th man. So their starting lineup is too mentally and physically tired. And strategically they lack adjustment room when it comes to lineups against different opponents. They just need one more really good guy to add versatility and ease off the burden of their starting lineup.

Dude its not the dallas dont defend well , its just the stack team boston is that every single player can catch and shoot at high volum and can make contested 3 or drive downhill , and in the other side its just 2 guys who need to play off their minds to be in the game . The tatum on the center to rotate was amazing adjustment , but everything can change , as far as i see kidd adjusments its prolly gafford not gonna play , and kleber will play way more and green also.

If Luka can’t pass the ball to his well covered team mates, then he needs to just score like hell, then maybe they’ll double him which will open up the passes. They didn’t stop Luka as much as you say so. He still scored 30 pts and got 10 rebounds. But Dallas needs to shoot the ball more and faster. And Luka needs to drive down the middle and draw some fouls. I think he did pretty good for what he had to work with on his first finals game, much better than Tatum. Give him some damn credit. Best player of the game to me was Brown.

Ya if I was Dallas I would seriously consider having Luka take 50 - 60 shots, at least until doubles start coming regularly, and just tell everyone else to basically put all of their energy into playing the craziest defense of their lives.

When the second round started I was hoping the Celtics got to play either the Thunder or the Mavericks, because basketball is all about matchups and I felt like Denver Nuggets was the toughest Matchup for the Celtics and i felt Mavericks were the easiest one. Mavs have a basic offense set up that runs primarily through 1 player sometimes 2. The Celtics play 5 out and have 6 people that can all shoot or initiate offense. And they have the better defense

Unless Dallas makes some major changes, this series won't last more than 5 games. No assists, no lobs, no corner 3's. Dallas will have to run multiple actions to get better shots. Luka and Kyrie just dribble, dribble, dribble, no good ball movement. They dont trust the others with the ball. Boston has too many players who can dribble, pass, and shoot on offense for Dallas to keep them fown long.

We'll see what dallas does but no corner threes and no lobs was by design from celtics and there isn't really any counter the mavs can make to change that it seems. The Celtics have the personell to basically make this a "its luka and kyrie vs our whole team". I just don't really see any real adjustemnts the mavs can make, or realistic ones given the abilities of their players, that will change it... I'm also not an NBA level coach so its entirely possible they can haha. I haven't seen anyone put together changes that feel super impactful though. Jason has been my go to for adjustments and what teams can do and it doesn't seem like there's anything drastic he can conjure up either. Just a brutal matchup for mavs. They need to rely on luka and kyrie going crazy/celtics going cold. We'll see how it plays out - Kidd is no slouch.

Getting guys to be late on the switch knowing they want to switch could be a viable option from time to time. I was astounded by how many “basketball people” picked Dallas to win this series. I understand the “best player” argument, but that’s only a real factor when the teams are somewhat competitive. Outside of Luka, Boston is way too much better and the overall matchup is just too uneven. How this wasn’t obvious to everyone, I do not know. I don’t wanna hear that Kyrie is the next best either, because he’s not. Even if you erase his abysmal game 1 performance, Kyrie is still very inconsistent and wildly overrated.

Celtics fan here, I hate agendas and this is a good way to describe this opinion. I’ve watched 99.9% of jt career, and the title of this vide is not only a lie but disgraceful! JT was horrific, plain and simple. He is a totally different player in the playoffs in a bad way. The guy has only one ☝️ thing going for him and is the 3 pointer! Come playoff time his stats drop dramatically! He kinda reminds me of garbage time dak Prescott! Tatum had no choice but to make those assists( HE CANNOT GET TO THE RIM) at least not consistently! Yeah, once in a rare moon he gets a nice drive, by that’s it. He is probably has the worst dribble for a star in basketball and he gets tossed around by dudes 6 feet tall! Go back to the game, he couldn’t cross the point line in drive until late 2nd quarter. ( HE IS SUPER SOFT) he finished 6/16 gf that is super bad considering he had no pressure, celtics were up by 30! Tatum can’t even come with a layup at crunch time, also, when the mavs made it an 8 point game were was this selfless tatum you guys talk about at? You cannot teach clutch, this has been going for many many years! I say if celtics win this year keep tatum for another year to see how he will perform with no pressure whatsoever and if the results are not good l, ship him out of here! Trade him to any of these ppl that say he’s a superstar! I’m really a celtics fan and have follow his whole career, just being honest! One more thing tatum can’t even get to the free throw line, 🤦🏻♂️
