Brilliant track, really changed the game in a lot of ways. Sadly can’t look past the fact that he flaunted getting a lawyer to avoid having to pay the other driver’s hospital bills. Kanye was already really well off financially, and the other man, a manager for a janitorial company, was left with a totaled car, two broken legs, a broken pelvis, broken knees, a shattered ankle and was out of work for over a year. Kanye turning lemons into lemonade for himself would be a lot sweeter if he took care of the dude who’s life he destroyed

@Kevin JusKev Callaghan " fair settlement". exactly. any semi famous person would be a fool not to have some sort of representation in a situation like this. maybe the other fellow found out who he was and was going to take advantage of him. i mean its unfortunate what happened, but youre exactly right.. insurance takes care of most things and thats who you typically " sue". once the other individual starts coming after you, no matter who you are, you better get a lawyer. unless you want to lose your ass lol he got fucked up in the accident too. maybe this dude was trying to get even more money. he didnt seem like he was boasting about trying to get out of paying anything. more like just another thing to add to the shit list. almost died, in the fucking hospital with his jaw wired and shit, and now this dude is trying to sue the fuck out me. .you know?

I like to think how many hours you put into your music and sound skills, and feel my heart sinking. True hacker, you are :)

@Christian Terrill shekels are measures of silver that Judah took as payment. They were the currency back then. Israel used to have pounds, but after some reforms the name of the currency was changed to historical shekels.

The day Kanye got into that car accident was ten days after I went in for a major cancer surgery in 2002 (also involving jaws, had half of mine totally removed), we were halfway across the country from each other at the time and complete strangers but when I found out about the timing of the events I always kinda felt connected with this song. Also shoutout to Outkast I didn't know he sampled em in this, their album Aquemini is one of my favorites. Thanks for this dude great great job

@Մեծ մայրիկ well I had to walk with a cane for six months because of how much bone was removed from my leg, my jaw healed fully around 9 months to a year I think. I'm very grateful to be alive, the growth rate of the tumor was very quick and the cancer would have reached my brain if they waited to do the surgery for another three months or so. The only issues I have from it since the surgery is that I only have the left side of my mouth to use for chewing food since there are no teeth on the lower right side, and I can't lift more than 80-100 pounds of weight since I only have one full bone in my left leg to support weight instead of two. If I try to lift something heavier than that I can actually feel my leg bone bending, that's a scary feeling haha I know if I were to keep lifting that my leg would break😬 Other than that I don't have any deformities with my jawline which is nice, it looks like normal unless you see inside my mouth where there's no teeth and under my neck is a long scar but it's not very thick. Anyway I hope whatever you're going through will go well for you, thanks for reading all my comments about this it was a very intense experience but in the end I got through it!

@Մեծ մայրիկ no they cut the bone out on the right side of my jaw and replaced it with leg bone and a titanium chain, the incision on my neck was stapled closed with around 40 staples. The incision down the side of my leg had 118 staples. I had to be on a liquid diet for a few weeks with a feeding tube, but I didn't have to have my jaw wired shut lol

I remember this song. When it came out it was a breath of fresh air. Kanye did production work before Through the Wire went big so people were a little familiar with his sound, but with that single and then college dropout everything just popped. Like the sounds just jumped out like you were on acid at a art museum. You could tell immediately he was special. One really amazing thing Ye did with college dropout that no one talks about is the sound engineering. Many people are not aware of this, but when making an album engineers are used to change the sound slightly so that the music can sound nicely over a variety of generic speakers. I swear on me mum, they made this album so it could be played on cheap car speakers, but still kept the pop ... which was very awesome for 95% of the listeners because most were young and broke. The engineer won 4 grammys.

@Crop Circle try separating his music that he made 20 years ago from things he has said in the past month or two. Sure you can have your opinion, but understand that it is nothing more than an opinion, and does not matter in the slightest to anyone that enjoys Kanye music. The song is good in my opinion.

What I love about your channel is that I basically came to hip hop from the same place as a musician as you did. I was just a bass player, got bit by the beat making bug, and all of a sudden, my skills as a bass player became exponentially more valuable to what I was working on. I always say, when people would ask what instruments they should learn if they want to make beats, go get yourself a bass! It's so nice to be able to know I won't have to sweat about a bassline ever lol. I digress... You're doing amazing work. People pay tuition for this level of content, and you're making it for the streets for free.99.

I was in High School, I remember the exact room I was in, I heard the story about how he recorded it with his jaw wired shut from one of my friends who had one of those nugget ebay chinese mp3 players that ran off a AAA battery, (I also had a similar one) and it was such an experience I still remember it to this day.

This was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I had a car accident a month ago. I was lying in bed this morning, frustrated with this whole ordeal, feeling like it slowed me down. Then Kayne came to mind. I always think about people in similar situations to get me through my own personal trials. I researched and came across this video. The way you broke down this song and told the story encouraged me. You had me at "In 2 WEEKS he was rapping". I was like.... let me take some aspirin and keep it moving. If Kayne can rise to the top after that, so can and so will I. And if you are reading this, YOU CAN AND WILL TOO. 🫶🏽

WOW such a well made video. It's incredible you don't have at least 100k subscribers. A tip: the Ye, Death Grips, Pink Floyd and The Beatles fanbases are HUGE in the internet and I think you can make some videos about some of their most famous songs to boost your channel.

Great work as usual man. I would love for you to do some albums breakdowns. Not song by song because that would be crazy. But general overview, context, some insights and stuff like what you already do, but one a larger body of work. That would be awesome. I watched the Soulquarian video and I realized we all need more exposure to Illadelph Halflife.

Regardless of what people think. Kanye is one of the most influential artist of our generation. People want to pigeon hole an artists way of thinking. He is expanding the social dialog and people cannot stand that. Pure genius

Amazing video man! Wonderful breakdown of one of my favorite songs. It’s so easy for me to empathize with young Kanye in this song. I feel like I’ve been in similar situations as what he was enduring at the time. When I’m feeling discouraged this is a great track to listen to.
