Talk to your provincial and local government. What do you think the feds can do? Provinces fund food banks and municipalities supply them along with donations. In the province next door the liberal government brought in rent controls as soon as they started rising. In our province the government said 'sucks to be poor'. I work at a food bank and ironically Covid was about the best thing to happen to food banks in ages. First many of the poor got CERB funding. Then when restaurants closed tons of food went to food banks. We had more potatoes than we knew what to do with, now hardly any. We had duck liver pate and fois gros and duck confit. Seriously, for a year we had a huge supply of duck confit and duck. Now, as you say, many of our shelves are often empty, and we don't have that many shelves. Our government has a surplus and is bragging how well they manage the economy and are building a new jail.

The terrible media doesn't want you to know that Alberta now has Citizens Initiaitives. My peeve with Trudeau is that he bailed on a fair electoral system, my peeve with Pollievre is that he bailed on Citizens Initiaitves, which he pushed as part of the Canadian Alliance. That lets the public force referenda on issues, by passing government altogether. The swiss have it federally, now Finland has it federall, half hte US states have it, and now Alberta.

@@SnowWhite-hr4ho Thats a whole other issue, but when the which OPENLY gets the most votes comes in SECOND, then its clearly not the method of counting votes that is the problem.

That would be a truer form of democracy, and it's a great idea. Voting on individual issues is what we need instead of one vote for a party that then gets to do whatever they want.

@@arkcon714 I don't need to, I KNOW the laws where I live, we have a conservative government and it was the conservative government that made it illegal to visit more than one family. It was the conservative government that made 'housing bubbles' the law, and it was teh conservative government that set up a snitch line for people to rat out their neighbours. Whether you had that in your province I don't know, but those were LAWS here, not 'wants' from anybody in the public. Of course we in the public had the brains to stay away from the elderly or the immune compromised when cases peaked, but it was the conservative government that made those LAWS. If you aren't aware that EVERY province had an Emergency Measures Order that overrides charter freedoms for over TWO YEARS then I suggest you not lecture other people on what they should be saying.

@@mikearchibald744 lol the only reason these laws were put in place is they were following the road from Ottawa, they were the first to start putting on mandates and gave the province’s financial incentives to put these regulations in place. I in no way use this as an excuse for what conservative governments did but let’s not kid ourselves. In Ontario Doug ford was firmly against procedure passports until the Trudeau company offered them a billion dollars if they instituted the program. Same happened for Alberta so don’t pretend like you care about charter rights when you support the guy who invoked the emergencies act and froze bank accounts because of an objectively peaceful protest

The NDP will never get their priorities done under a Conservative Government. So if the Liberals keep a slim majority or less in the polls the NDP has no choice but to support the Liberals.

Which is exactly why this country is falling apart. If you have the means, look for a better place to live. Canada is declining across the board. Taxes, crime, health care, homelessness, cost of living, housing. What else is left to ruin.

I went to a location for people who were victims of trauma and when I went in there these people from India were all giving each other an education with the lady who had eight people on a screen telling her the things that she should do in the school courses that she could take and when I walked in the room she pretended she was talking about murdering children and told all the other people to stop talking with each other so that he didn't tell me what was going on but I witnessed everything before she had the opportunity to and if you were going to allow this to happen then you are the one failing Canadians we need artificial intelligence or we are going to be defeated by countries who are using racist practices against our citizens
