You haven't mentioned classical music but the biggest Romanian composer is George Enescu and you should at least check out the Romanian Rhapsody as that's gonna be something you are very familiar with. You can also check out Ciprian Porumbescu if you want. Oh and Gheorghe Zamfir is very important to Romania, a pan flute player. Traditional music there is a lot and traditional dances are like a few dozen different ones but on top of traditional music and also kinda part of that are the Xmas carols named Colinde and there are a lot of them.

Food related many soups, many pickles. Also, folks from Latin America tend to love the eggplant salad, likely you have tried it by now. And ofc you can also try zacusca, icre, salata de beuf or something super basic that no foreigner has ever tried like pasta de peste (fish paste). And i suppose you are not really a foreigner anymore since you are staying in RO for the long term but let's say that , for now, you are a partial foreigner. Home made cakes actually, they are quite good and there are dozens of different ones but it's a bit harder to find them in retail. Mushrooms are pretty good in RO so do try dishes that have mushrooms.

Hi, little tip for buying cumin. Try any Arabic/ Lebanese/ Syrian specialty stores, they have the good stuff. Or nowadays, I guess you can try Sri Lankan/ Indian specialty stores, because we have so many immigrants from these countries, they are sure to keep cumin seeds as well, next to their other specific spices.

Thank you so much!!! There is a section in Obor in which you can buy spices from these countries, I never thought I could find cumins there!! But yes!! Next time I go, I will see if I can find. Thanks a lot for the tip 🥰

@@FoxxNoah, you are welcome. Yes, the store in Obor should have it (I lived near Obor for 12 years, it was my go to store for spices) but be aware that they might not be so fresh, as they are sold in bulk/ called "vrac" in Romanian and they are kept somehow in the open air most of the day. You should also be aware of the little difference between cumin and caraway in Romanian. Cumin is chimion and caraway is chimen. They sound very much alike and some people dont really know the difference between these two. Chimen/ caraway is used in our traditional cuisine but not chimion/ cumin, I cannot think of one dish that uses it.

I’ve been here for a year and a half…most of the people I met spoke English or Spanish. My job is in English and Spanish, no need for Romanian and I never saw myself in the situation of having to learn the language to be able to communicate with people. And of course when you go live to a country the least you could do is learn the language. And I will, I’m starting a course soon, I should’ve done it before but for many reasons I didn’t…..and well…..I hope I can soon have a decent conversation in Romanian 😊🥰 I can say I do understand a lot, and know many words, but here in Bucharest people talk sooooo fast, and confuses me a bit 🙂🥲😂

Funny story absolut how Romania change people. I have a colleague in Cluj who is from Equador and he is having here about 5 years. In this summer he went home for the vacation and there he went with his dad pickup truck to a restaurant. At some point, he went to the bathroom and he did this like in Romania, leaving his phone and the car keys on the table... Well, the police found the pickup truck two weeks later in another town but never found his phone again😂

Hi! You did a funny mistake in your video, when you talked about food - it was about Goulash. It’s not a romanian traditional food. I would rather give the credit, to our neighbour, Hungary. If we have to decide about our traditional soup/chorba, I guess I would go with: ciorba de burtă, ciorba Radauteana, or ciorbă de perișoare (I still remember that this chorba, was made by the jews people who lived in our country). Anyway, nice video. Enjoy your stay în România. Ignore the comments from natio-tards, who are mad about people from other countries coming here. You are more then welcomed here!
