If you're a dual citizen and forgot to bring your Philippine passport or it has expired the immigration officer could give you a year to stay. This is what happened to me when I went there last year with an expired passport. I didn't even tell her my passport expired; she knew from checking her records that I'm a dual citizen and therefore gave me a year to stay. Also, if your Philippine passport has expired you can get it renewed there. I was pleasantly surprised it took 15 days for my passport to get renewed. I thought it would take ages for me to receive my passport as it normally does when dealing with Philippine agencies.

I’m an American citizen and have married a Filipino. I was trying to get my 13A visa to live and stay in the Philippines. Yes I extended with immigration for 1 month and 3 months. I found it very time consuming trying to get my NBI clearance. I did all the paperwork and they did a background check on me. I was told to come back in a week. I go back thinking I’m going to get my card only to be let down because someone in the Philippines was trying to steal my identity. Thus all this money spent made me very mad at this system. I was told I had to go to Talisay and speak to a judge about this case against me. So my extension was running out in a few days. I ran out of time and money. I had to leave my wife and family there alone without me. I’m very upset on the whole process and the amount of time and money spent to not get my NBI clearance. It should be easier process since my wife is there!!! I’m back in USA missing my family.😡😡😡

@@JOYCEREYNOLDS-r6y Yes your return ticket must be leaving within 30 days. Some airlines will it let you board if you can’t present one. If you book round trip flights spanning more than 30 days, you can keep it. A lot would just buy an extra ticket (they call it throw away ticket) leaving PH before 30days is over -- but they don’t actually use it. It is just to present in case asked.

Hi, hello. I hope you are in good health. I have a question, I am formerly a filipino citizen and am now a naturalized US citizen. My pilipino birth certificate says that I was born in 1961 due to my age nearing my 21st year of age while my parents were in the process of my petition to the US. My parents were able to adjust my birth year to 1965, so my records here in the US are different in the Philippines. My question is, how can I obtain a dual citizen ship, and how and what are my options to become a dual citizen.

You were mentioning about the 408 ruling again and again several times causing you to miss some info aabout what we should do with the old philippine passport, like shall we show it to philippine immigration on arrival or only when they ask for it. It's what's going to happen on the philippine side that I'm concerned and need to know so I can prepare what will or could be needed for a smooth entry into our former country.
