If only more of us older people had realised sooner that supermarket food was never real food but a marketing ploy. We will all die eventually but please let it be without strokes, diabetes, Parkinson’s, dementia, Alzheimer’s or cancer. I’m 66 and I’m constantly having people come up to me and compliment me, it’s a little embarrassing but better that than being stared at because I have a walker or in a wheelchair, but I’ve yet to succeed in turning a single friend or family member carnivore. @@Desertflower743 I know what you mean. But hey, I might have been the same if I hadn't encountered it online. I didn't even know such a diet existed a year ago. And I met the keto diet first and did that for a few months. Then I hit a plateau for a couple of months and wondered why weight loss had all but stopped. I wasn't far from my ideal weight but just couldn't get there. Then I stumbled on carnivore and decided to give it a try. And it worked almost immediately. But I can't persuade anyone else to give it a try. Two of my brothers could certainly use the lifestyle but they think I've gone down a rabbit hole. They're not prepared "to play with their lives" but they're perfectly happy to let their cardiologists "play with their lives". What can one do? I cook keto for my husband so I can eat the same stuff without the veg but he'll be eating carbs outside the main meals. He doesn't put on any weight so he thinks it's fine for him to carry on guzzling down whatever he feels like.

I appreciate the quick video with the extended answers. I'm in the group that goes months before energy returns and it has been very frustrating. All aspects and health benefits of this way of eating seem to come slow for me. So ok. I'm not spring chicken and I've certainly done a lot of damage to my body over the years. So I''ll accept it and going forward I'll allow it to be slow if that's what it's going to take. If some things shift sooner then that will be a nice surprise. If not I will take it as it comes and simply stay carnivorous. Apparently this is the time in my life where I get to practice patience and fortitude:)

Within days my bowels were quiet. The pain/rumbling/popping and excessive gas all but gone. Sleep was slow to improve and still gotta way to go, last night very restless. Inflammation 70% better most of the time, yet today feel compromised and this can happen frequently. I haven’t lost a lot of weight. This fluctuates daily, I have water retention issues. Hot flashes much improved (57 yrs, 3 yrs no menstruation). I could go on and on. I read most of the comments on videos I watch and a lot of people report sudden healing and if that’s the case that’s FABULOUS. However I’m a slow starter it seems (almost a year now), I’ve had less than a handful of small glitches. A couple of incidents with sour dough slice. Some avo, mushrooms, cucumber, some black coffee, eggs. I know I need to give strict carnivore a go. Anyway the improvements I’ve seen have been life changing for me especially the sleep as I’ve been coping with a maximum of barely 3 broken hours a night for a couple of decades. To all those who aren’t getting quick results hang in there. Be honest with yourselves. My body won’t ignore the side effects of little cheats AND I don’t mean refined processed crap. I’ve now added 72/96hr fasting and salt flushing which is quickening things along. This takes long for alot of people. I'm 137 days into my carnivore journey. I can now cycle comfortably around 30 miles in a fasted state before I feel I need my meal. For example, I cycled 25 miles on Saturday, then stopped and ate my packed food. My pre-prepped meal consisted of 2 quarter pounder Wagyu burger patties and 2 boiled eggs. I made sure I had my rock salt. After my food, I continued with my bike ride. I ended up doing 60 miles in total. As time moves on, I am definitely experiencing smoother energy and more available energy in a fasted state. I'm only talking about a daily fast of around 18 to 24 hours. It's really working for me. I'm a 51-year-old guy, and I'm now down around 57 pounds. I have achieved this even with a recent Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism diagnosis. Pretty amazing. A huge shout-out to Dr. Chaffee.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:14 ⏳ The time it takes to become fat-adapted on a carnivore diet varies for individuals. Most people feel better within two to three weeks. 00:53 🏃 After about three weeks, people can generally perform as well on ketones as they did on a high-carbohydrate diet in terms of athletic performance. 01:07 🔄 True fat adaptation takes months, including the turnover of mitochondria through processes like mitophagy and autophagy. 02:02 💤 Some individuals may experience low energy levels initially when transitioning to a carnivore diet, but most people see improved energy within a couple of weeks. Two or three months after starting carnivore and you should be pretty much completely fat-adapted. However, I have seen a few rare testimonies in which it took much longer. One said six months, another claimed still being not quite optimal after nine. I dare not speculate as to why this happens.

I’ve heard/read it’s a symptom of not enough acid in your stomach and you want to be sure not to drink too much water (if at all) too close to eating (diluting what’s in your stomach) I also find smelling food cooking for a bit helps stomach gear up, but if I go eat something quickly after fasting I get a bit of pain as I think it’s catching my stomach unprepared. Possibly drinking a little apple cider vinegar can help too. Could be lack of other electrolytes like potassium and sodium too. I find any straight up magnesium supplements govt me diarrhea. I got reflux really bad when I started fasting the first time before I knew about electrolytes. Other thing would be try more elimination, cut eggs for a while, then reintroduce them. Same with chicken, etc then see if reflux goes away or comes back. Hope you figure it out.

Are you talking about the total workout duration, or the duration of a set? To build muscule I progressive overload, taking each barbell set to failure at 5 to 20 reps then down to failing on 1 rep so the muscule is totally spent. It is important to rest between sets , 1.5 - 7 minutes if need be so heart rate comes back to near normal. With body weight excercise like press ups go max reps to failure then make the mind do 2 more. Rest, do it again, 5 or 6 sets. Same with pull ups, air squats etc. I last got 250 air squats in one set. Did not want to risk a strain by trying another. Also rest days if / as required. I have heard some people stay fit with 10-15 minutes exercise a day, even 8 minutes, some with none, just carnivour alone, but I am building strength, endurance, muscule, health. I eat very high fat and red meat only, no carbs, have A1c at 4.6% and currenty 7 day average blood pressue is at 99/65, 14 day average blood pressure at 103/68. 🥩🥩

Thank you very much I appreciate that! Yes I think that is a thing but even vegan doctors admit that it is caused or at least can be caused by different plant toxins such as lectins like gluten. Red meat definitely does not cause it,and in fact when people go on red meat only they are the ones that stop their problems and heal leaky gut. It's a pretty good test of whether red meat causes these problems if you just exclusively eat it and nothing else and all of these problems go away then clearly they are not the cause of these problems otherwise your problems would get worse and not better.

I'm only on day 5 but I have noticed some changes. I'm not fat adapted; however, I put my dogs on a carnivore diet, and they SEEM to be fat adapted. They have more energy than they have ever had: (Catahoula and Border Collie). They don't beg for food anymore (after 5 days too) and they sleep all night long which they never did before. I'm expecting the same results for me in about 3 more weeks. I have lost any hunger or cravings already, and I have gained five pounds, but my clothes fit differently. I was able to wear a blouse today that wouldn't cover my chest five days ago. I'll be glad when I start using fat for energy.

To go through nine mitochondrial life cycles, it would take around nine weeks. Each mitochondrial life cycle typically takes about one week. That would be a reasonable guess that by then you would have added enough fat burning nuts and bolts to them to be fat adapted baseline but rem it just gets better from there with every life cycle. Until diminishing returns start to affect their evolution, but even then gains are postive in efficiency even at a reduced rate.

Dr. Chafee, I recently came across your information. I started Carnivore a few months back and have experience much of the same benefits as everyone else. My arthritis pains are way down, brain fog gone, don't feel sleepy all day, belly fat down by half, steady energy all day. Your analysis of the Seventh Day Adventist Cult is spot on. In my 20's I worked at the Loma Linda University and New many SDA's. Some are very good people, however they have departed from the freedom that comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ. SDA's like Mormons focus more on what their prophet E. White said than what Jesus and his apostles taught. Their teachings on abstaining from meat lones up with the World Econom Forum Agenda 2030. Your analysis of the SDA's medical research made me think that maybe they are tied to the Freemasons and the Zionist Ashkenazi plans of depopulating the earth by getting rid of farm animals and especially the cows.

IMO, I'm starting to move away from this language of being "fat adapted," as to me, this seems like it is the default state since, when you remove everything, the body naturally wants to be in ketosis. If anything, I would say that if you aren't in ketosis and you're eating carbs that you're "carb addicted" as "the science" (I hate that phrase but whatever), is showing more and more that we're just addicts slowly killing ourselves with a low dose poison.

Beef, bacon, butter, salt and water. Occasionally, chicken, pork and shrimp. Not alot, but just enough to not go insane on the simple carnivore diet. I have not had carb or sugar cravings for 3 of the 4 weeks. I have drank my salt water, with potassium and Magnesium. I have lost 20 lbs and do not want to loose any more weight. Weight is not my problem, arthritis is my reason for the carnivore diet! So i feel i am on the right track, but i feel so tired and unmotivated. ~20% of people do need to supplement electrolytes. Monitor your blood pressure. If you feel that your heart is pounding to the point it doesn't let you sleep, then it's potassium deficiency(high blood pressure). If you feel muscle cramps its Mg, if you feel muscle pain it's potassium again. If you feel fatigue, its either you are not eating enough fat, or not enough salt. I personally have to supplement potassium because otherwise I can't even sleep. Hope it passes eventually. Also drink water often(but don't force yourself).

In my experience lots of beans, lentils and legumes gave me bad bloating and flatulence. Just don’t jump in cold turkey to lots of meat or meat only, your body will need time to build up stomach acid and bile for digesting meat and fat but take it slow, small amounts to start then you should have no issue digesting meat. On carnivore I hardly fart and never feel bloated (unless I really over eat in one go, but it’s not a gasey type of feel like with veg and bread that I get)

we digest meat naturally without any gases released. All the plant material is digested by bacteria in our gut. We can't digest plants on our own. When bacteria digest cellulose/sugar/starch, they emit co2 and other gases. That's why you bloat.

If you are vegetarian you will have a very different Microbiome to that of someone who is carnivore. It’s also highly likely that your stomach acid pH is not low to easily digest meat. Have a look at a KZitem channel called Pottenger‘s humans - he goes into this subject in detail. It will take longer for your body to adapt to be able to eat only meat

The keto flu is more likely to be withdrawals from all the things that you have stopped eating and that just goes away on its own but constipation is easy because it just means you need to eat more fat and cramps or headaches is most often caused from not drinking enough water so just keep your water levels up and you'll be fine as far as that's concerned.
