I’m in China and I totally agree. I am teaching students that learned English all their lives and they are now studying English as a major at university level. They know English way better than me the problem is just sentence construction but grammar and pronunciation is really good.

But I think they will keep foreigners for cultural exchange purposes so these salaries will definitely become lower and lower as ESL will be reduced to a mere cultural exchange vs an actual rare skill

Yep n when they cut those salaries it gonna be pointless for foreigners to move to China if the salary is gonna be the same as back at home. China is self sufficient so it is to be expected that once they have enough Chinese speaking english, they will be good with English teachers. I just can’t help but admire these people dedication to ensuring the development of their nation and people. They don’t mind loosing these billions in salaries for 2 decades knowing that after that they will be more secure

Compliments: I love engaging with your content it pushes one to think… keep up the good work, you’d do great on current affairs podcast Opinion : oh yes this is really a logical explanation but on the other side I think by now they already have enough English speaking graduates but they still recruit simply because a teaching job is not a prominent option for them like it is back at home so they may know but opt for other careers most likely….what you said is due to happen but I think it will probably take another 10years to really get there Question: Do you think it’s safer to move to an international school rather?do you think that’s of advantage since one gets a chance not to only teach English but content subjects too …. Does it put one in a safer position?

Yep teachers do get payed peanuts abala la however they also facing a graduate employment crisis so every industry is a pull too for them just like how we do other degrees and later do pgce because we studied something that not giving us jobs. It may not be as bad here but they are heading towards an uncertain future also with ai already in roll here. It worse ke la things like tellers are far less than at home, hotels have lesser staff here I mean you have robots serve you food at hotels ,,, I can say a lot n yep more than 4 years is possible but I also can’t skip how it took China to shut down more than 95% of training centers in less than 7 months. N the question another pandemic is ey these schools dnt want us iningi lethu the “chocolate “ people. If you already in one you must stick to it and not move around. The safest thing to do right now is to have pgce or bEd so it can land you in international schools. If things get tough you will move to saudi or back home

Your videos are always informative. I would like to know , how long must I give myself to job hunt and prepare my documents for July/August next year ? I’m a South African in the US and would like to teach in the coming year . Thanks

Docs take 2-3 months currently. They always slow ko dirco especially. Pcc also takes time. Better if you do it in Pretoria. August is perfect though to prepare

A bachelors is still fine. The key is just to have a teaching qualification
