Great video, I would just argue that you also need to factor in the symmetries a square has in 2d, because an 3x3 square with each row being iron, gold and diamond would be the same as a 3x3 square with each row being diamond, gold and iron rotated 180 degrees. Either that or make a less ambiguous definition of what we are considering a "different beacon". And if you were to consider the symmetries you would also have to be careful to also factor in the fact that you can rotate the pyramid beacon as a hole and also do rotations to every layer separately (like a Rubik´s cube). As an end note I would add that it is possible to have several beacons on a singular pyramid (for example, you can have 2 beacons with a 4x3 base). Really enjoyed the video, made me think.

What about the height the world height is from -64 to 320 as of 1.18 you have to consider the amount of combinations up to build height with the glass colors. Unless I missed something and if I did tell me.
@FizzyBanger
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the combinations of glass blocks stacked up to build limit would be extremely massive, considering there are 16 glass colors. For a single layer beacon built at bedrock level, you'd have to work out 16^382 (384 minus 2). As a cop out, I just went with sRGB colors, because the true number of colors is almost uncountable.

Calculations are shockingly simple: sum for each size of pyramid: (types)^(number of blocks). The levels are [9,25,49,81], the numbers are [9,34,83,162], the number of beacons will be 5^that ~ [2e6,6e23,1e58,2e113], and the sum of these is just the largest term again. A neat trick to approximate here is: 2^10~10^3, so 5^10~10^7; so 5^162~10^(16×7)×5^2~25e112
@MrRyanroberson1

My man forgot about the combined beacon towers. So actually the max amount of beacons are "the humongous number he showed at the end of the video multiplied by another huge number (I don't have the brain power or the patience to find it out). Cuz of the sixtuple beacons witch can give all effects and each beacon beam can have a different color. Think about that for a second. If someone manages to figure out the answer to that, please tell me.
