When my daughter was about 8 or 9, she said that she wanted to learn cross stitch, so I got her a blank bookmark, needle, and embroidery thread. A few days later, I saw her working on it. I sat next to her and asked how it was going. There were a half a dozen starts and stops and thread runs, working up to 2 perfect cross stitches. She snipped a thread on the back, handed it to me, and said, "there! I learned it! Now you can use it for your book." And I did.

This hurts because its true. That said, I've learned to stop letting tools become hobbies in and of themselves and to shoot for my actual goals more straightly. I stopped messing around with junk 3d printers and got a Bambulab X1C, I started to learn PCB design to be less reliant on breakout boards, I gave up on some of the smaller side tasks like hand drilling/cutting metal, to outsource for cnc parts, and over all it feels much more productive.

I remember seeing this on Facebook. Still so very relatable. I've got too many Hobbies. Drawing. Jewelry Making. Knitting. Sewing by Hand. Cooking. (I've recently got interested in making Jam. Made 2 kinds so far. And awhile ago I got into making Homemade Cereal.) Learning Languages. Learning about Herbal Medicine and Medical stuff. Learning about Psychology. Learning about Nature. Learning random Science things. (Like apparently you can make Styrofoam into Cinnamon Flavoring. Or like you can make Plant Cells into Meat Cells apparently.) Candle Making. Wax Melt Making. Resin. Flow Art. Bookmarks out of Wire. Keychains. Plan on getting into Sticker Making, certain type of Book Making, making Incenses and more over time. I'm thinking about making Mini Rubber Ducks into Earrings and Keychains. But that's on the back burner right now of ideas. Busy trying to play catch up and get ready to hopefully take a much needed Vacation.

Wire for my wire crafting. Paper for my origami, 3D origami, and papercrafts. Streamers and pipe cleaners for my flower creations. Fabric for my sewing, both clothes and plushes. 3d printer and filament for both the pens and printer. Macrame strings for macrame creations. Straws and staples for other creations when I'm bored. And last but not least, other little things that are either partially done, half done, or almost done lying everywhere. 😂 Edit: Oh yes, and some wood projects as well. 😂

I wish i had a hobby room to keep all of my hobby stuff together, right now it's all in various places in my apartment (a tall standing shelf with my 3D prints- I have 2 small printers- my books (that I keep buying more of and not reading), and my rock collection in a big jar! My yarn craft supplies are in a huge storage bin- including my half finished crochet projects- my tools and miscellaneous parts are in my 2 tool boxes and a small storage bin, miscellaneous craft supplies are in a couple of half filled boxes in my storage closets, my language binders and textbooks are on the shelf under my desk, and my embroidery floss is currently all over my floor because I got distracted while deciding color schemes for friendship bracelets (I want to learn how to embroider as well but I never actually start) Also, to explain this long comment about all my hobby stuff: yes I am autistic and I may also have ADHD
