I do a HIT burn out set with between 30-35 reps and I keep upping the weight every 6 days when I next work out that body part. After the first burn out set I’m barely able to lift light weight and if I had the time I could see myself doing 20 sets but I try to keep it under 35 mins bc of my schedule before work. I can get 5 exercises in during this time. I do like one good set to failure or almost failure and then the next 3-5 are really rather pathetic where it can hurt to do the bar on the last set. I’ve gone up 16 lbs on my estimated squat max in 30 days or 6 workouts. I try to get my whole body every 6 days and do the bro split. But yeah in this video I can’t imagine doing 20+ sets that’s like either there’s a lot of rest in between or just the bar is gonna be heavy at the end

I do average of 40 sets per week per body part. Worked wonders in the beginning now I’m lifting a lot heavier I toned it down so I can recover. Bigger you get the more rest you need if you are using high intensity

To the teenage kids watching this you have to keep in mind that before Jay ever even touched the weight he was incredibly muscular. He was blessed genetically with an incredible recuperative ability. His tolerance for work is off the charts. Not only do most of us not need 20 sets per body part it would be counterproductive. Start with two exercises and once you get a good degree of results you can start adding on.

Actually it’s great advice- consider the difference in poundage’s - arm size comes from chest and back lifted heavy Actual weights for arms are very light by comparison which is the mistake 99% of people make When you are rowing 500 pounds your arm curls are with the 30’s strictly for shaping When you are in between doing rows with 250 then your dumbbell curls should be around 55

Still doesn't make sense. If u are doing 20 sets for back then u are greatly working your biceps also, so why would u do 20 sets for biceps. I would do 10 sets. Like half of larger bodyparts

I do 20 sets a body part but I go to failure each one and then for my rest I do about 5 to 10 deep breaths and then right into the next set and ik a lot of people say not to but for me it’s been working like a beauty I think personally

Legend for sure but there’s more science now days that can save you the trouble of doing 20. Start low, 10sets, if you’re body responds well, do that till you peak, then up the volume to 12, and so on. If you start high, you are desensitizing your muscles to only respond to 20sets early on. And some people won’t even respond well to 20 sets. Basically you wanna start low, and based how your body responds, raise your volume bit by bit till you hit that sweet spot of gains, stay there till you stagnate, then up the volume to get a response again.

@@sbFreakinxRican high intensity and low volume basically. He didn’t see the point in spending 3 hours a day in the gym doing 30 sets. There’s only so much growth you can stimulate at a given time. If you Train extreamly hard with 100 percent effort and intensity then it should be brief and infrequent was his philosophy.

That's not overtraining for someone on gear, what the fuck are you talking about? Also, he won mr olympia 4 times and got second like 6 times, 5 times against Ronnie Coleman (2001-2005) and one time against Dexter jackson (2008) so i'd say he's basically one of the most successful and highest paid bodybuilders in history. Still can't get your point.

What's your thought on Chuck Norris's daughter Jim I've been wanting to get one of those for the last three to four years I'm skeptical right now I'm injured from work work is not sending me to medical facilities I have a lot of problems at work major short outs and that dropping my tail down about four to five inches I mean it's it's hopefully doesn't need to surgery but I haven't moved my felony charges yet but call a lawyer 32 million dollar lawsuits going to be filed there's some stuff happened back when Martin Duffy retired I end up on the operating table for four and a half hours and where it come from where where do I work yeah that's where I came from did it bother me not a bit I don't think I had to do is get stitches 32 across my left side of my face and it didn't bother me a bit then bother me when I got stabbed then bought me again 22 shots in the face and two side two shots choose me and my mouth didn't bother me a bit I went to back to work I got to hit that Friday the same week and Martin retired Friday I got I was out walking my dog guy came on the corner and that's what happened and I took that Saturday off I was back to work Sunday I still had blood in my hair at blood and my ear I was still there working at my department store I do not phrail out any level somebody wants to trouble anybody can come around the corner and jack somebody up but stay until surely another story and I use a voice synthesizer so if it does sound right you can pretty much guess what it means

20 sets on a bro split, brah! Come on. I myself train 16 sets per body part. For instance on a back day 4 sets of pull ups, 4 sets of rows, 4 sets of lat pulldowns, 4 sets of bent over rows. Total 16 sets per body part in a bro split... Also, Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, and generally most IFBB pros do bro split. Haven't you been following CBUM's prep series leading up to Olympia each year?

I do 3 full body workouts per week, typically 8 sets on legs per workout (compound movements only) so 24 sets per week on legs, 5 sets of upper body per workout, so 15 sets per week for upper body muscle groups. I do like 50 sets of lateral raises per week though.

3 sets of 10 reps on 3 exercises so 90 reps on big muscles. Smaller ones get 3 sets 10 reps 2 exercises. Complete natural not even supplements. 3/4 days week.

I guess I need to add another movement to each exercise. I average 16. I use a 4x4 method so I will try out a 5x4 method and see how I feel afterwards.

@@Momoa786 I am 35 about to be 36 in July. I like to train 2 days on then 1 rest day. But the way I train, I need that rest on day 3 because my muscles are just exhausted by then and I don’t feel any benefit when I workout 3 days straight.

I've trained like this for 8 mouths and my shoulders and chest are the first telling me to stop. I think doing to many sets is just gonna damage too much and your body won't heals completely, I mean, mine can't, maybe some of u could but watch out

biceps is one muscle group... In the legs, only the quadriceps femoris is a group of four muscles: vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, and rectus femoris. Hamstrings, adductors, glutes etc., just as complex. So 20 sets per biceps does equal how many hundreds of sets for legs musclez?!

Does your chest or biceps really need as many sets as your legs or back? I mean with legs for example you have the adductors, Hams, Quads, Glutes, Calves and even the Tibialis while with the Chest you only have pectoralis Major and Minor that you can train.

He forgot to mention that the 20 sets is per week… so if you workout bicep twice a week, you will do 10 sets one day and 10 sets on uour second bicep day. Im currently doing 24 sets total. Over 24 sets it will be Overkill.
