Great video. I remember changing points etc in my 1972 Camaro and using the feeler gauges and dwell meter and timing light. Great stuff. Now if the electronics fail we are screwed for $$$$$.

Wonderful information. The Marelli distributers are a pain to setup mainly because they require so much disassembly to make changes. I was so sick of it that I developed a fully electronic system with a digitally plotted advance curve. No more weights or service ever and 100% impossible to tell it is in the guts of the OEM Marelli housing.

The problem is many of the owners have cars they want to keep as original as possible.. Otherwise going to an electronic system is absolutely the better solution.

@@normalguysupercar Originality is a joke when you're broken down at the side of the road. All this talk about 'originality' yet early cars are not re-painted in lacquer, engines are re-built with better rods and pistons, and lots of other 'improvements' are made during restorations. I don't agree with stuff that is visible but when you can achieve a better result with a 100% stock looking appearance I'll take that any day.

It's definitely a process. The 123ignition guts are a pretty cool option.

I love that machine. I rebuild and restore magnetos and work on distributers. I have been looking for one of those machines that someone is not asking an arm and a leg for.

Ferrari usually ran mild curves, from 10D to 40D. Lambo had a 20D to 40D curve, much more aggressive. Also total advance came in very late, about 5k rpms. So there is room to get more aggressive.

In old 1950's British comedies, when someone wore a false beard on elastic and pulled it down for an effective reveal of their true identity it looked exactly like his!
