This freeze ended up killing my 103 year old great grandma, her machine was vital for her but the outages killed her :( thank you for this video!

What you failed to mention is that the rich neighborhoods neither had power outages or food shortages everyone that died was poor

Im from Texas and you're 100% right, then if you had power they charged you for it at an illegal rate that sent multiple people to jail

I live in a very nice area with million dollar houses. We lost power it was completely dark. My brother as well lost power and he lives in area which are all million dollar homes. This is a false claim spread by ignorance.

This is one of my favorite videos. I enjoyed watching this and have a better understanding of what happened. As a Texan who nearly froze to death and lived through this thank you for sharing with others. There are not too many videos that discuss the topic in this manner. ❤

Abbott says what his base wants to hear. Conservative media tells his base what to think. Its one big circle.

@@KohanKilletz It’s both. We need to rapidly switch to a more sustainable economy if there’s to be a reasonable hope for a better future. I think of the world like a garden. I lived in Texas during this time. And even tho my grandparents were rich, the electricity in our house went out for a few days and it was a truely awful experience. I like the cold more than heat, but this was just too much man

As someone who grew up in Michigan most of my live then moved to Texas and experienced that. Not a fun time at all. Out of power for 2 days. Roads took a beating, a lot had to get redone. Some to this day still haven't been fixed and are terrible to drive on.

I remember a co worker who took advantage of the remote work opportunity due to COVID and moved back to Texas. A couple of days before this storm, she expressed her worries, that the temps were going down to the single digits (lower than -13C) for days. Having lived in a place where this is normal in winter, and having experienced -40(F or C, you pick, they are the same) a few times in the past, I didn't think too much of it, a little bit of prep work, but not overly nasty. I completely forgot that Texas doesn't see that weather often, once in several decades or so. and have no prep for that weather. She lost power for 3 days and everything froze and burst

People were burning wood in their BBQ grills INDOORS. I understand desperate but damn. Rich people weren't really affected, they still had their heat, pools, guest houses, etc all empty and warmed up. It was BS.
