I agree with everything you said! I've had to many bad experiences with every kind of services, contractors, and mechanics both auto and bike.

Doing your own work probably saved you at least 5 hours of dealership labor = $600. Great job!!!!!

The rear wheel does not need to be removed to replace the rear brake pads. You could have gotten more out of the brake pads. But you should have replaced the flange bolts of the front brake calipers as this is required by the specs. These are special bolts which will stretch one time, when tightened to tightening torque.

Thanks for the comment. I removed the rear wheel because I changed the rear tire. Also, I greased the caliper mechanism and checked that it was sliding properly prior to putting the new pads in. I do know that the specs require you to replace the flange bolts. However, after talking with the tech at my Honda dealership and a few others who work on their Goldwings more than I, they indicated that the only reason Honda mentions this is because the original flange bolts have locktite on them. They want to ensure that when you reinstall them, there is locktite on them. I just cleaned the bolts and added new locktite before reinstalling. Thanks for watching. Ride safe!

@@craighanesworth262 Thanks for taking notice of my comment. I updated it a bit. I'm refering to the front brake caliper. The main reason is, that these bolts stretch, when tightened. So when you reuse them several times, there is a risk that the bolt will tear apart.

Almost 100k on my 2008 and I’ve done all the maintenance myself. Only thing I haven’t figured out is the reverse light blinking. I can’t find any videos on how to fix it so I put tape over the light.

That is such a nice looking Gold Wing Craig. Nicely appointed and squared away. Agree doing your own work is knowing with absolute certainty the service gets done and, intimately learning about your equipment is highly beneficial. You probably know Cruiseman says his videos will save you over $1k/year. Safe travels to you. Many miles of smiles. Nice to see the cooler weather gear coming out of the closet. Is that an armored flannel, if so, what brand? Here in Texas still 90+, and that’s ok by me.

Thanks for watching. Yes. It is an armored flannel shirt from Speed & Strength. Perfect when it is in the high 50s low 60s. Ride safe

The funnest maintenance is the air filter. First time it’s kinda a challenge, I’m due again at the end of this season. Have you done that one yet? Honda built a motorcycle around the air filter 🤦♂️ Bikes looking good like usual 👍

Yes. I did the air filter early this spring while it was still a little too cold to ride. I did mine at 25,000 and everything still looked good. Definitely a pain in the butt. Not extremely hard. Just very time consuming as you know. Ride safe!

I'd like to see your motorcycle lift, and how you use it with your Goldwing.

I use a J&S Jack. It works really well. You have to purchase an adapter with it if you have a Honda Goldwing. (Actually, you don't have to purchase an adapter for it. You can use a block of wood as an "adapter plate". But I chose to just purchase the adapter to make it easier). I will try to take a photo when I get a chance. Thanks for watching
