that's the difference between cheap and frugal. Nice material and do the labor yourself to save money is always the best choice. Damn fine results!
@Goldphool
8 ай бұрын
"Nice material" or frugal which one? Just because you DIY doesn't mean it doesn't cost a lot. Take into consideration the area. If it were a house it would cost A LOT more my BIL is doing the same thing and it is taking forever because he works (it looks like fixing this trailer IS her job) and can only work on his house after work and weekends. He lived in the house (absolute health hazard IMO) renting a hotel only when he needed to use chemicals to lift glues etc. But the sheer SQ footage makes the cost change A LOT.
@CaGirl93003
6 ай бұрын
@@Goldphool the point was the difference between “cheap” and frugal. You can purchase quality materials - not cheap, and do it yourself - frugal. Of course the sq.f. matters too, she says in the video it’s 600sq.f. so that is certainly a factor. You’re also making an assumption by saying she probably doesn’t also work. You watched a 60 sec video and now you know her whole story? You seem really bitter about your BIL’s project and very insistent that the 2 be compared which is kind of weird since neither have anything to do with you. Do you work? Maybe you should take up your own project so you worry less about what other people are doing. 🤷🏻♀️

We actually bought a 1975 mobile home for $41,000 cash, renovated it with another 20K new floors.. paint...13 new windows , freshen things up kept.... some of the paneling ...kept and restored parquet floors... pressure washed the outside... repainted the shutters and put on a metal roof.... We are mortgage-free debt-free worry-free...I have beautiful gardens, wildflower wooded lot .. It's comfortable and cozy easy to maintain and clean and believe it or not we did not have 2x2s when putting in a regular house front door.. We had 2x4s in the structure. It’s only edited to make it look easy and like she did it all. These kinds of influencers don’t go viral if they show the harsh realities and costs of home makeovers. I’m renovating a trailer and I find it implausible she did it to such a dilapidated old trailer for so cheap and in only 6 months w/o a regular crew. I also have a really hard time believing that trailer was just free(and on free land apparently bc just moving a trailer is $7,000 min). Even rather dilapidated old trailers go for $10,000 and up not including land and I live in an area with low cost of living. That shower tile looks more than just $230 and somehow she’s a professional tiler, drywaller, finisher, carpenter, woodworker, plumber, flooring person, electrician, cabinet and countertop installer, etc. This is why so many ppl buy homes with the expectation they can flip them for a few thousand dollars and then the work doesn’t last long.

@@iprobablywontseeyourreply.7193 So do I! When my ex wife and I were still together her grandfather left her a 1992 trailer and 20 acres of land. She was already living In the trailer when we met. Unfortunately her grandfather hired a complete Idiot to build a front porch and the guy drilled unnecessary holes that he didn't caulk and put a LEVEL roof on a porch... Basically everyone It rained water came Inside of the walls and rotted out the floors and walls In over half of the trailer. We tried to find a "new" trailer to buy and have It moved onto our land but It was just way too expensive. So we decided to just remodel the trailer we lived In. She was pregnant and wasn't able to help much at all. I was working 10-12 hours a day for 5-6 days a week. I'd come In from work and stay up half the night trying to fix our home. After I replaced all of the floors, frames, walls, repainted, replaced the trim etc I spent close to $6,000 and It took me awhile to do this by myself. VERY NICE‼️ 8 years ago, I inherited a 45 year old double-wide on a beautiful corner lot, just 1 block from the water. I basically did what you did for about $8K . . . Now, I'm selling the property for over $150K! Nothing I did to the mobile home increased the property value (because it's a mobile home on the Gulf Coast), $8K broke down over 8 years equates to "rent/mortgage" payments of less than $100/mo. In short, never let anybody talk shit about the cost and labor that you poured into your home! The money you spent may not have increased the value of the home; but if you break your costs down over the years you live there, you could have never lived anywhere that cheap. With the ridiculous amounts of money I have saved by not paying rent/mortgage payments for the past, I'm getting ready to build on 40 acres with ZERO DEBT. "Don't seek inspiration from others. Find your inspiration from within yourself." ~ ME - I said that, and I say it all the time. ❤

Mobile homes / house trailers do not have proper load bearing framework . One by twos for bracing in the roof less than quarter inch plywood sheeting . I've lived in one for a lot of years and remodeled and added on to one . In the end it's still a house trailer. Crap. Granted it's liveable, and u did a fabulous job. But it's still crap . Well what people do not understand is that money makes money. When I turn 21 years old my grandfather gave all the grandchildren $20k. Well my brother and cousin spent it on trips and just stuff. None of them went to college but me either. Well I invested that money and over 40 year that money is worth 15 times more then when I got it and all I did was do some sound safe investing. People do not understand the more money you save the more money you can make doing nothing.

My son and I share a one bedroom basement in the Toronto (Canada) area that I pay $1700/month for. We would move into that tomorrow and it would change our quality of life immensely. I wouldn’t need to access a food bank every month and scrimp and scrounge to keep groceries in the fridge. I could afford to drive my vehicle again and be able to do so much more. If I had an opportunity like this I’d take it in a heartbeat. Anyone hating on her is clearly extremely privileged and lack humility.

I made a maintenance schedule and put a plastic school type laminated sleeve on it. Put it on a c clipboard and hung a grease pencil with it. Marked things off when done. Like clean bathtub drain, 😊dishwasher and washing machine sludge. Get lawn mower blades sharpened😊, 😊prune 😊and spray need oil on fruit trees. Your list will change whether you live in a home with a garden, or a baby. Clean carpets with non toxic methods for baby, etc. Im glad you're near the end of an arduous journey. Congrats !!!😊😊
