the orthopedic surgeon who operated on my moms finger was only 35 and makes over $1,000,000 per year. i talked to him a few times during follow up appointments and he has a 2017 Audi r8, a Ferrari 812 Superfast and his daily driver is a Toyota Camry. Hes a super nice guy and is one of the few people ive met who actually enjoys their jobs

Fellowships are also designed to expand your areas of speciality and become eligible to become double or triple board certified in a particular field of medicine. (Any doctor whose triple-board certified is practically a genius or has an incredible work ethic)

I think the system takes advantage of medical residents and fellows. Yeah, you get a big salary increase after you are done with all that training but really? less than an average nurse salary with a 4 year doctoral degree and 5 year residency... thats crazy. Question though, did you sign a non-compete? Thoughts on that?

Thomas Petersen take advantage not necessarily bc they are getting the training but I agree that they should be payed more for there and honestly I feel like surgeons who save lives are also underpaid, they should be making at least a couple of mill, I mean there so many careers that are not as important as surgeons who get paid more so why can’t doctors

I had the chance to go to school in Europe and I LOVED it!!! I was so tempted to just stay over there and attend med-school or finish school here in the states and try to work over there... But once I found out how little ALL the European countries pay doctors compared to us in America... I decided not to do it. Perhaps if I grew up in Europe I would think differently but here in America the road to becoming a doctor is long and expensive... Sacrificing so much to get where I am now just accept less pay for it wouldn't feel right.

Even though you are a new doctor fresh out of residency, do you feel completely prepared to take care of all types patients by yourself if needed? Or do you really feel like a rookie after all those years in med school and residency? Do you have older friends that can answer the question? For example, a doc looking back; does the experienced doc thats 10 years out of residency feel so much more prepared compared to when he just finished residency? Thanks

With the hours residents and fellows work, that economically 'decent' salary works out to be $12-20/hr... They're getting paid in their knowledge when they're learning that is for sure. Lol. Then afterwards they get paid for what they know.

Just depends on your specialty. It’s not required. Just makes your more marketable and improves your skill set. 90% of orthopedic surgeons do a fellowship. 10% of people go straight to work as a general orthopedic surgeon

Hi Dr. Webb, I know that now you are super busy with the new job and the baby but I do you still take questions on your website?... I sent you a question and never heard back so I wasn't sure if you still did this?... Oh and THANK YOU for EVERYTHING!!!... I have learned more from you in the past few weeks than I ever learned from anything about being a doctor.
