Salary is definitely dependent on market and your sales team. I have a friend at AWS making $130k/yr a friend at Meta making $140k/yr and a friend at TekSystems making $200k+/yr I make $80 base with 10% raise each quarter until Q4 where it will be $100k base + commission. I like where I am because of the autonomy

I am a registered Nurse looking to get into recruiting. Is this possible in the tech field or will I need to stay in my specialty, as a nurse recruiter ? I'm very passionate about working however looking to get out of bedside if possible. Do you have any insight or company's to recommend? Family lives out of country and it would be AMAZING for my family and I to have this possibly to be remote .. thank you for any advice etc

I’ve work in in IT for 15 years as an infrastructure architect and more recently as a DevOps architect, I figure since recruiters have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to technical stuff, and technical recruiting being a hot market, I would probably do better than anyone. But is the compensation more than I make now? ($250k-$300k+) probably not.

someone of your background would be fantastic in engaging with the candidates and clients on a very technical level. having all that knowledge would be great, however depends what you are as a person, have u ever had any sales experience previously?

@@anh7807 that is right! I work recruiting it people and they make more than 100k.

@@NathaliaCareers yeah, the only way you make more than (or even near) 100k is if you are at a director level with decades of experience. Maybe if you work for a huge organization but even then it wont be that much. I had to fight to make $23/hr and that's with a bachelors and living in California. The IT guys at my organization make a lot more than me.

Question out of curiousity. Let's say a talent search firm finds me and connects me with another company and I get hired lets say for 100k yearly. Does the recruiter make commision 1 time payment for referring me or for the life of my career with that company?

Recruiting salary makes no sense aside from a supply/demand aspect. As an agency "technical" (which isn't technical) recruiter turned data engineer (over many years) I can say I get both sides. From a subjective standpoint...two criteria comes to mind 1) discernable skills & 2) the ultimate value any particular job brings to the market. Lets be 100% real. Recruiters need zero skills for the job. That said the value they bring to the company is somewhat meaningful and metrics for retention, culture, worker output etc can be measured and ultimately tied back to recruiting strategies etc. It is essentially a sales job and it's difficult in its own right, but definitively not difficult from a critical thinking standpoint (just from a grinding standpoint). That said...it's hard to fathom recruiters being parallel in salary to engineers who create the underlying products that allow the companies to even exist in at all. It's extremely upside-down in that regards.

There is obviously a demand, or else people wouldn't be getting hired. And doing sales IS a skill. Lots of engineers don't have the soft skills that recruiters have. Maybe it's not as technical "critical thinking" skills, but critical thinking skills aren't the only valuable skills. Don't be mad that recruiters make a lot of money; it doesn't affect you. More people should be allowed to make lots of money besides just engineers and a few select fields.
