UPS driver here out of Dallas Tx. You start out at $20 an hour, in 4 years you top out at $41 an hour. Full ride benefits paid for by company for you and all your dependents, pension, 7 paid personal days off, 6 weeks vacation a year, $62 an hour any day you work past the 8th hour, $120(triple time) an hour if you work past 9.5 hours in a day more then 3 days a week. Unionized. $100,000+ a year… Very hard on the body, I’m in Texas so summer is brutal, 130 degrees in back of the truck, injuries are very common, hard labor…but if you know how to take care of yourself and do the job well it’s a very good career and allows me to provide for my family and live a very good life…thx to the Union getting us all those perks.

You can feel the heat from the truck while driving through your boots, developed calluses on 7/10 toes, the only time you are going to get cold air to cool down is if you go into a building, your lunch is not paid for but you are required to take it. You’ll be delivering swimming pools that are 100lbs, generators that are 150 lbs, peoples beds, furniture, medicine, car parts and whatever other stuff they order. No one’s going to help you with their stuff and if your load is shit, have fun spending 5-10 mins every stop searching for a package in the back in 150+ degree temperature. Construction literally quits at 5:00 here, have fun staying out till 9pm when it’s still 98 degrees. Also you’ll lose your life insurance when you retire from the company. I've worked at UPS. Looooong hours delivering routes, other drivers want you to finish their stuff constantly. If it's cold or hot it sucks. I didn't necessarily dislike it it's just very repetitive and hours suck.

But FedEx is definitely a good approach to gain experience and know how it works around the Warehouses so you can be ready to work for UPS. UPS is much harder to get into, especially if you have little to no experience working at a Warehouse type job. But once you’re in, you’re golden.

I worked for UPS as a driver helper in socal. You had to work midnight to 6am loading the trucks for years. It was a 6-8 years working in the hub until you got a truck but this was 7 years ago. Ill tell you what it was the hardest job ive ever had and i was a dishwasher. But yeah good benefits if youre willing to work your ass off

UPS pays more but fedex has better hours. When we lived in the city my wife would leave at 9 and around the holidays get back as late as 2 in the morning. Back then Montana had less people but also fewer UPS driver so she was like 1 of 10 drivers doing Kalispell, bigfork, whitefish, lakeside, Columba falls, west glacier, and even eureka. Now my friend says there’s almost 100 driver for all those city’s. The upside is he says he gets back around 6. The downside is the center in right on the way to Kalispell so if you drive down around10:30 there 100 trucks trying to get out at once, half of them have trailers along with 30 semi trucks 😂 The most caos you’ve ever seen the 5 minutes later the road feel quiet and lonely 😂

Man I hope there's a part two because you cut once he mention unions... I was a Teamster and I paid union dues which is another topic cuz I don't know why the hell everyone complains how about union dues when they're here like a lawyer to save your ass when it comes to getting fired. Marty was my rep. Save my ass more times and I could come and at least more than half the times wasn't my fault. And he actually turned it to where they offered me a promotion. So this guy is straight legit and I could tell he didn't know what to do he probably was having a kid at the same time I was stuck in the corner and he made the right choice put his feet on the ground and did what he had to do. And if you were to comment this gentleman on this post that works at UPS I'm pretty sure I nailed his story

Here in Alabama FedEx leases their routes to contractors who in return hire the routes out to their employees for $165-$185 a day, no matter the hours. Which was usually 10-13 a day ... daily stops when I worked there were around 200-400. It’s an absolute killer on your legs the first week hopping in and out the truck running packages. I had to call out my 5th day because I woke up that morning and couldn’t stand up. My legs just would not work. I got out of bed and immediately collapsed to my knees and hands. Mind you I had just came from a job which required walking 15 miles a day but all those stops and stairs that first week at FedEx just exhausted my legs/feet. Pay wasn’t worth it under those contractors FedEx is a joke here. (Madison, AL) They can’t keep workers so it’s constantly new people learning how addresses work and mistakenly delivering packages to the wrong house. Ups never lets me down!

I live in Kalama and have a package coming from Kelso it was supposed to ship out yesterday (Friday) but never delivered due to Weather issues/delay I called costumer service today and they told me it will be sent out Monday my question is how do they know it it will deliver? Should I be optimistic? Will it even come next week? It's annoying since I'm only 15 min from Kelso Thoughts plz

Got hired at 21 in 2010. Hr told me during my interview that it could take 10 years to go driving. I loaded trailers for 2 years. It’s all part time work so I wasn’t making anything. My supervisor told me I should become a sup because it’s a decent pay bump and salary. But I could not go driving or go back to being an hourly employee. So I took it. Once I became a sup it was made clear to me that I wouldn’t be able to go any higher with the company. I still didn’t make enough. I had to work a day job on top of it to barely make rent. Did that for 4 more years and finally quit. It was the worst decision I’ve ever made and one that I will pay for for the rest of my life to go into management with ups because I would’ve went driving so much quicker than the 10 years that I was originally told. People are going driving in less than a year now. It sucks because I was one of the best loaders in that hub. I would’ve gotten my shot had I been more patient. Now I barely make minimum wage driving with Amazon 🪦
