Oooooohhh yeah haha. I'd stay away from custom fairings from Motoxpricampi.com. And mainly just make sure you have the correct parts, I wasted some money buying parts that didn't exactly fit my bike and then had to buy more parts to make them fit. Just do your research on parts before buying lol

Just wondering why did you go with the IRC QS/AB instead of the widely used Translogic? and is it and 06-07 why would you upgrade to a slipper clutch? Great build, I've heard braketech got better overall build quality than the brembo Ts but more expensive also might want to finish it with the davinci gauge
@dillwinn
Жыл бұрын
In all honesty dude, I wish I would have gone with the translogic. I had the translogic on my 2015 r1 and it was amazing and slightly better.... and cheaper. It's a 2016. Upgrading the slipper clutch would just help a little with more rear wheel control/sliding when downshifting into corners. I can agree with he gauge for sure. I'll look into the brake tech rotors. Thanks!

Sweet racebike you built. 👊 What did you not like about the MotoCambi fairings? I was looking at getting those or the Sharkskinz. I like that the MotoCambi since it already comes painted and they have a motogp style fairings for my bike.
@dillwinn

The quality of the fairings is decent. But how much they cost for what you get is not worth it at all. Idk, if you buy a fairing kit from them for $1300 I can kinda see being worth it. But I paid $1800....... lol

The term race bike is very wide and unspecific for example a stock r6 with race plastics and essential mods like pads fluid tires and safety wiring can be done relatively cheaply for less then 2k and you could take it racing in super stock or beginner racing events now a proper sbk spec super sport could run 20-30k in mods Alone with all the trick engine internals and drivetrain ohlins suspension full titanium hardware carbon fairings forge wheels and top of the line braking system data logger dash and custom ecu maping.
@dillwinn

I totally agree dude. In all honesty it comes down to your budget and what you have, or are willing to spend. You can literally buy a bike and throw some race fairings and safety wire on it and be good to go rip haha

Better to just buy someone else’s already built bike especially at the end of the race season. Plus, 90% of those race parts can be removed and sold off to recoup money. Just make sure to save the stock parts.
@dillwinn

I do agree on this depending on your situation, what you have to spend, and what you want. I wanted to build my own bike my way, with the understanding that I would be the first person to have raced the bike. I did consider buying a used race bike. But I didn't wanna run the risk of buying an abused race bike for it to only break down on me after a race weekend. Not worth the risk, when I have the money to buy a bike and build it myself, knowing it will last me years to come, with how I take care of my stuff.

This is insane. When you race a bike you crash. Buying more reasonable parts is not cheaping out. Racing with a yellow plate, most of the upgrades you did are anesthetic. Crazy waste of money.
@dillwinn
7 ай бұрын
Honestly, I agree with you somewhat. Just about all *aesthetic* upgrades for a race bike are mostly pointless. But In my opinion you get what you pay for. If your gonna buy cheap ass Alibaba parts, chances are that parts gonna break on you or give you a hard time compared to paying good money for a reputable part that'll last you years and years to come. It was my first race bike build and I wanted to build it how I wanted it, because I have the money to enjoy putting *aesthetic* pieces on my bike unlike some people... Been racing for the last 2 years on the bike, done about 30+ track days, placed first in 24 out of the 28 races, and have yet to crash.... I would say the money I've put into the bike has very so much had its pay off in my opinion.. But hey!... everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

1st in 24 of 28 races… with no crashes? Sounds like you’re pretty damn good. I have a ZX6R and this will be my 2nd season on the track… and my 2nd season in total with a sport bike. I’m guessing if I add up all my upgrades I’m probably about $3k - $4k into it. Your fairings were wicked expensive tho! I did Hotbodies for less than $500. Not as nice as yours, but I’ve been down twice already and #3 is almost inevitable. Cool bike, my dude! Ride fast and take chances!!
