I really wanted to travel to Vietnam from the Netherlands by motorcycle but I was scared of getting stuck because of money shortages, but this was really eye opening how it can actually be quite reasonable. Great video thank you.

Harmen motorcycle touring is a different beast entirely. Both you and your motorcycle need visas and costly import licences and fuel through Europe is brutal. Most conservative estimates for rtw on a motorbike are £20,000. Something i am keen on doing too someday! Check out pedro mota, he is also from the netherlands and very cool!

You would have had to spend money on food, travel and accommodation even if you hadn't been unicycling around the world, so I think the total cost of £23,000 means the your adventure really cost you almost nothing. I hope you rightly regard that as an amazing achievement to do it all for so little and yet raise so much money for charity.

@@TheRybka30 - Reminds me of people paying to fly to third-world countries to do manual labor at some type of charity, like an orphanage. It is definitely an experience but the huge amount of money spent traveling might have been better spent, that is if the end-goal was to help people in need. However, if the end-goal was the experience then so be it. Just don't claim that it was all about charity.

If its not his money theres no question he can stop doing it at any time but the donations and videos would have stopped and that didnt go with his plan

Thanks to the internet, one can now support themselves while travelling around the globe. With the amount of subscribers you have now, I'd say £5000 per month is totally practically achievable (I'm being conservative) if you know how fully utilize all the income streams. I see you are exploring many, including Patreon, Merch, Sponsorships, Paypal and so on. IMO, you should hire an editor so you can churn out videos more often and increase your income. Explore ways to let Aishola tell her stories too. Kyrgyzstan is a very exotic country and the world would like to know more about it, especially when the stories are told by a Kyrgyz girl with perfect English (taught by you!) Way to go Ed! I love all these behind the scene stuff it's awesome. Keep going! I love your channel.

I learned to ride my unicycle in a tennis court. Just used the fence around it for balance until I could ride unassisted. It took me about a week or so to get the hang of it.

I got paid… 😀 I was in the US Navy and I took my unicycle everywhere. The people were always amused. Always got a smile even if we couldn’t speak the same language.

I mean counting all costs together you spent around £18.89 a day which is a super cheap expenditure if you consider everything is included (accommodation, food, gear, etc). Super cool!

Love your honesty mate, most people would have left it at how much it cost and not let on about donations and the like made to you on the way. On your journey thru Australia you passed within about 200 metres of my front door, would have been able to see you ride past if I had known. I wont tell you or everyone my location but it was quite close to Sydney near where you made the comment about the drivers being very aggressive or something there abouts? Made me laugh. You're not wrong though there are a lot of drivers around here that come of as aggressive and crazy but mostly they are ignorant and stupid you did the right thing by changing routes. this is first of your videos ive watched , weird never herd of your trip althou mark beumonts been in oban few times doing talks in corran halls, ive had many warmshowers guests doing long distance cycling trips but none on a unicycle :) that is most amazing way to see the world and your video is by far best ive seen of anyone documenting their own trip. i have quite a few friends who have bloggged on "crazyman on a bike" be cool to meet if your ever up this way and if we are ever alowed out again, wonder if the world has just changed , good luck on your next adventure

Literally travelled the world for less money than the average joe spends in a year. That is exactly why it gets me mad when I hear people say "I would love to travel but I cant afford to!"... No. You cann afford to, you are just to lazy to do the first step. I cant remember one single backpacking trip I have done, that I later had to think about the money I spend and if it was worth it.

even when just considering 23k for a 40-41 month trip its around 575 a month, and after what you got back from ads and all the kind people who helped you then its only around 200 or so a month. not too bad considering the length of the trip, all the places you could see, the people you got to meet. i would say that was a trip worth the cost and even better if what happened after let you get back those costs too! overall it was a great series.
