just look at all the videos of people making candles at home. and all the people commenting. Clearly way over saturated nobody is making more than 20k a year off it. if you do 5k a year consider yourself lucky lol all i know is when i posted on etsy got 80 views in 8 months where ebay and amazon got over 10-20k views in a week.....Etsy is for the big business that pay for views imo. If something is easy to make and sell then chances are its worthless to get involved with. Nobody wants a job so anything easy people jump on the wagon and try which ruins it for everyone. That is why everyone makes videos and sells "Information" rather than actually sell candles. Prey on the desperate. Like all the get rich quick scams. Candle making is more for like stay at home wife while the husband pays the bills lol

I was going to make 48 candles total, 2 different sizes, 4 different scents but now I think I’ll make 24 candles total, 2 different sizes, 4 different scents. Therefore, if I sell out more I already have vessels and fragrance oil to make the second batch and while those cure I can be placing an order for more vessels and fragrance oil.

I personally let mine cure for 3 weeks. But I do a coconut blend and they seem to do better with a good cure. I'm slow at making candles too! However it's because I am enjoying the process. I don't pour candles everyday, because it's just 1 facet of my business. So making candles is relaxing compared to other things I do. I did Farmer's Markets till the Coronavirus pandemic hit. What a mess that's been. My local buyers just call me and I get their orders ready and they can pick them up. I'm hoping by the time The Christmas Village opens, I can once again set up. I miss talking to my customers. It's a shame Festival is only 5 weeks out and it'll be to soon to get out there. I usually make 1500 dollars a day. So, I guess when tax time rolls around I won't be paying taxes. I might get money back as sales are down. Who knows? Lol, I hope 2021 is a better year!

I have been using 14's per candle supply instructions that were in the kits for the tins. I never had an issue with wicking this size. You could also use this same size for the 10oz jars. I use 8% to 9% FO. It has a great SC. Your doing a great job!!

Thanks Erica, I know you did a video on coconut wax a while back. Did you decide to make a coconut candle? I personally get a little confused when I hear pro candle makers talk about testing. I would love a video on how that process is supposed to work. I figure at some point you can not test through every candle you make, or even most of them? I may have it wrong but figure I would pose the questions. You seem to be in better health today- this make me smile. Stay amazing! #team Erica

Ruby Nieves yes that was the starter kit from CCS but I never ended up buying more coconut wax to work with. However I am waiting on some new wax to come in the mail to work with and it’s coconut based. And you’re right I should definitely do a video on testing because this can get really confusing and tricky (even for me still, I’m definitely not an expert at testing) Thank you so much for watching 🙂 I’m definitely feeling better, I decided to change my upload schedule from every 3 days to every 4 days and just having one more day in between uploads has taken the stress off immensely 💜

I know this video is 3 yrs ago, but my husband and kiddos and I wanted to start making candles. I got wax from Candlescience, which is the soy 464. They say the wax needs 2 weeks of curing time. If I follow those directions, then I should probably wait at least 5 to 7 days before listing them just in case, right? I mean, I know they're not going to sell as soon as I list them. That would be amazing if they did, LOL. I'm just trying to think when we can officially launch them. Our soap, scrubs, and butters can be listed and sold immediately. The candles are the only wait time item, and we're going back and forth of when to list. We're questioning whether immediately since they won't sell right away at first, wait a few days just in case, or wait the entire 2 weeks. Any suggestions?

Yes I will definitely make a video similar to that! And that’s a great question. I basically did (COG x 4 + $7) on all of my items on Etsy and offered free shipping.
