it's chowar which means gifts ,it's very old tradition the groom gifts the brides various items they look simple but in the past people were very poor , it's separate from the dowry in general , the dowry in islam is mandatory and must be given to the bride and not the family or father
@20CamelsEmily

Thanks for sharing this information! It's a beautiful tradition, and I wasn't aware that it was separate from the dowry.

I’ve been following your content for a while and sharing it with my community in China, especially since it’s been really useful in explaining Tunisian traditions and culture. Your videos have saved me a lot of time when it comes to answering questions about my country. That said, I just watched your latest video, and I have to be honest-it really put me off. Your friend in the video came across as incredibly fake, and it made the whole thing hard to watch. His attitude felt so forced that I couldn’t even focus on the actual content. It’s disappointing because I follow your channel for genuine insights, not someone pretending to be cool or relatable. On top of that, it’s ironic how most of the views and comments seem to be from Tunisians. It’s almost as if we’re watching our own culture from an outsider’s lens, which feels off when it’s presented this way in English. I’ve appreciated your work up until now, but with stuff like this, I think it’s time for me to step away.

Mhm what are your initial thoughts about the culture and people after frequenting the country and tunisians? Lastly from your perspective, how would you compare living in the US to here in Tunisia? Your tunisian accent is top notch haha👌 and I’m really pleased with the content you provide, Enjoy yourself :)

This tradition "hadeya" varies from a place to another in Tunisia ; for example in my country "Korba" (in Nabeul) there is no such tradition at all , whereas in other places such as Siliana (my husband's city) this tradition still exists; they call it "keswa" but when his family bring it to our house it didn't include food ; They were baskets of clothes, shoes, bags and makeup. They brought them to me from France (where his sisters work) It was very kind and generous from them . Thank God.
