This video is exceptional! It provides all the information I need about tax calculation in Finland. I do have a query, though. Are the Pension insurance contribution of 7.15%, unemployment insurance contribution of 1.5%, and tax (stated as 21.5% in this video) deducted by the employer from our gross income? Or, is the entire salary deposited by the employer and we are then responsible for these tax payments? Is it possible to pay these amounts through the Finnish Tax Administration, Vero?

Thank you! Glad you found it useful. Taxes, unemployment insurance and Pension insurance will be automatically deducted from your salary. So, what you will get in your bank account is the net salary after deductions. The only time you need to usually access Vero is to create or update your Tax card (pdf) based on your estimated Income for the year, which you will then have to forward to your Employer.

There is no govt mandated minimum salary in Finland. Minimum salary is based on labour organisations' deals.

If you are a resident, you can earn 19 900 euros a year (2023) with 0 % income tax. You will, however, always pay up to 10 % of your salary in unemployment, pension, and healthcare insurances that are obligatory payments to govt.
