I would actually like to see a complex calculation via spreadsheet as I think that is more representative of what people are trying to achieve.

In Canada is all monthly dividend income $4000 or over taxed at 15 percent? Are there higher tax rates at say $10,000 a month? Also if you had a business in Canada with a non personal self directed account can you reduce the taxes on your monthly dividends? For example in your $4000 dividend income example taxed at 15% if the stocks were held in a non personal account owned by a business can the business write off expenses to reduce that 15%? I’m not sure if this is possible

1) The tax rate in this example 15% is the US rate (Because most of my audience is American). Sorry I should have specified. If you’re Canadian it’s higher. And yes if you go to $10k it would be higher. 2) dividends in a non personal self directed account would be subject to part IV tax so the quick answer to your question is no. business income pays part I tax.
