We do something similar. I have a learner-active, technology-infused classroom, which is based on the text, Students Taking Charge by Dr. Nancy Sulla. My kindergarten students have an activity list with activities to choose from. They also come to my small- group, mini-lessons. I have dedicated 8 days for the last two summers learning this. I have one more 8-day session to complete this summer. It's been an amazing journey. Teachers are seen as facilitators instead of standing in front of the class spewing information.

+The Lettered Classroom I am doing status of the class by posting an agenda daily and checking off tasks as we complete them. I go over the tasks we do at beginning of class during a daily debrief. I am noticing most days we get more done. I am also learning to adjust my status of class /agenda as needed throughout the day and week.

Love your channel and love you. Thanks for the hundredth time for making my transition from 2nd to 4th easier to handle. It's so nice to see someone being real about struggles...I've been driving the struggle bus all year. 😂 it's nice to have some "passengers" along for the ride every now in then so it doesn't feel so lonely.

I will probably stick with Patreon Group chats this month. I really enjoy prepped questions with the ability for the 'askers' to have follow ups. The open Live Chats are too chaotic. You have an open invitation to the Patreon Chats. I appreciate your thoughtful questions and comments.

I'm so so so glad I found your channel! I've recently started working as a substitute teacher in Dallas and feel totally unprepared in the classroom. I've literally subbed twice now, but I have this week scheduled at different elementary schools. Just watching the way you explain things and how you've designed your classroom has been so helpful! Your students are very lucky to have such an awesome teacher!

Whenever you print something looks just sooooo profesional and cheerful for the kids... I am impressed, please, let us know about, tons of kisses for you my "inspiration".

Its great that you letting the children lead their learning. Do you think that it may be too much freedom for such young age? I see this being wonderful in high school, but elementary.... I don't know. Depending on the group of children that you have..some children are not used to having this much freedom in their lives. Any thoughts?

I do believe that it will have its challenges. However, I already have a few students who have shown wonderful signs of independence and enhanced self-confidence. This method will allow me to work with each student as necessary on their goals and on getting them to where they need to be concerning their grade level. As far as my kiddos who are out and completing their targets, I have some that are amazing and take so much pride in their work. Others require guidance and that is okay! I think it is important to instill independence and responsibility at a young age. I strongly believe that we need to stop spoon-feeding our children and teach them the importance of personal responsibility. So many kids are reliant on adults to do everything for them. This needs to stop and I believe we owe it to them, as teachers, to help them know that they can do it on their own.

I have a question.. what are some ways that teachers can make money in the summer when schools out? Do you get paid during the summer? Or do you just have to do something else during the summer to make an income? Like how does that work? I'm thinking about becoming a teacher or a nurse but I'm leaning in the teaching direction but the pay makes me nervous.
