their strategy is looking the most clever of the tournament by far

Very great video, but maybe one thing I'd like to add is Rudiger's or Schlotterbeck's passes, because if you look at their formation, often Tah or Anton is a little further behind, standing centrally, while Kroos and Rudiger or Schlotterbeck are a little more involved in the attacks. Often Kroos then has the freedom to plan his strategic advances accordingly and send dangerous passes to the midfielders or Havertz, like you already explained, but often be balls also get sent to Rudiger or Schlotterbeck, followed either by one of Rudiger's dangerous long shots or Schlotterbeck's or Rudigers long passes. They often play a vital role in offense, creating a back three with two playmakers and a central defender laying low, being ready to receive dangerous balls or stop dangerous advances, followed bei Neuer with his immense skills of knowing when to get outside the box or further advance towards dangerous attackers. A really great strategy, where literally 9 out of 11 players are heavily involved in attacks.

It’s incredible that Nagelsmann has got them working all together in the same strategy. It’s incredible because at international level they only have limited time.

how do you see their chances against spain?

Should be a great game. I feel like Spain’s pace on the flanks could cause Germany problems. What do you think?

I agree. Should be a tremendous game. Spain's two double flanks vs. Germany's center domination could end up in a shoot-out match 😅

The core area is gonna be Nico Willuams against Joshua Kimmich. I think Nagelsmann will change formation to a 3-5-2 with Henrichs on the right and Kimmich added to the midfield. Neuer - Henrichs, Rüdiger, Tah, Schlotterbeck, Raum - Kimmich, Kroos, Gündogan - Musiala, Havertz Or like against Denmark, just Henrichs for Kimmich. Raum or Mittelstädt against Yamal remains a difficult choice, too.

It's remarkable how all these analysis of Nagelsmann and Germanys playstyle ignore the fact that we just don't score enough goals against good teams. Having 4 creative midfielders up front with no one stretching the defense makes the box extremely congested. Havertz finishing sucks. Without Füllkrug we haven't been able to score on a regular basis in the last 20+ games. The Scotland and Hungary games were more the exception than the. The game against Switzerland showed how hard it is for us to score goals with Nagelsmanns tactics if we don't play with a proper striker like Füllkrug. We also got very lucky against Denmark with all the chances that Havertz missed. As someone who has watched German football for over 30 years, this playstyle without a proper striker might look good in theory and can work in some cases but let's just see how Spain will dismantle us next Friday. :) We weren't able to win against teams like Ukraine, Greece, Turkey, Colombia etc. because all the possession doesn't lead to enough goals and makes us extremely vulnerable to counter attacks.

Would've scored more against the swiss if the ref wasn't such a daft cunt. But yeah overall you're right, all these chances are worthless if you don't finish them properly. Havertz and sane are the worst offenders here imo, but i think for very different reasons. Havertz appears to lack finishing skill, while sane still plays like he's playing for Bayern, not the DFB, with too much ego and not enough thought.

I don't think it is just about the striker. Players seem to be nervy infront of goal and often act hasty. This is why they squander great chances too often. Might be an idea to focus more on finishing in training and under pressure forward passes and finishes in the box. We are usually great at creating spaces and pushing through midfield to the opposition box, but if there is noone in the mood to step into a dribble and rip a side open, we can often stagnate quite a bit, as seen in various games through the last 12 months.
