Your videos are great . Im self taught on backhoe and mini ex. Wouldnt consider my self great but i ve been doing septic systems for a couple years. I went to apply for a job digging footings. I watched your videos for half the day. Great tips and knowledge on your part. You operate like no other ive seen. Well i tried to apply what you were teaching on your videos when the company threw me in a couple pieces of equipment and painted out some lines to dig on interview. Needless to say, got the job and. your videos had alot to do with it. Thx

Good Morning Frank, Thank you for the video. When you dig wide footings ,you dig the edges first and the centre last that way the bucket has support and doesn"t keep waundering to the centre of the dig . Just like when you dig a manhole etc, you know what I mean!!! Anyway Take Care ;). Did you get any JCB Footage after??.

What I don't understand, is why they put the piers in then-what appears to be- backfill over them with the compactable fill just to have you come and dig it all back out again. It would seem, to me, that it would be easier to dig the ditches then have them come in and place all the pier holes in them when the ditch is ready. I think that would leave the rebar less subject to damage. The only thing I can think of why they would do it they way they do is so that the piers have time to "set up" in order to hold the rest of the footing up and not have the ditches sit open for a few weeks while they do. Am I missing anything about the reasoning for it?
@Digginok
5 жыл бұрын
The piers are poured below grade after the dirt work is done. The problem with drilling after is you have to dig the ditch out again from the pier drilling, also it is hard to get close to the hole without the ditch caving in. I’m sure it could be done 10 different ways, but this is how they do it.
@louisianadirt2188
5 жыл бұрын
After our piers are poured we cover up so we don't fight all the holes holding water also. Most of the time ours are put in a few weeks before footings are dug.
@Digginok

That’s kinda what happens around here too. Backfilling with sand makes it easy to clean out. These were done about 3 days before I dug the footing.
@stevenmurata4392

Bet that guy checking level thought you lost it when you started digging the "wrong" way. Noticed when you were moving dirt, you reached over the pile & pulled it over then scooped it up. What's your reason for doing it that way?

Yeah he looked at me kinda funny! I was trying to keep the pile from falling into the ditch.

I dug about 2 feet under the house footings (one corner of the house) to pour 40cm of deep concrete than put a concrete block 30cmx30cm of diameter to jack up the house levelling but at this depth clay is softer than where the original footing is. If l pour concrete than level it would it be ok or what is your advice? I need help. Thank you
@Digginok

Sorry I just found this comment, I would consider digging and pouring concrete under existing footing. sometimes a wide footing can be used to float on top of soft soils.
