Not our usual light-hearted banter this morning - today's video is how not to get drowned on a beach.
In the last week (August 2020), two teenagers drowned at St Annes beach, and the body of another man was pulled out of the sea at Blackpool. The sea is dangerous - it looks lovely but you need to take care. We're stood on a sandbank in this video, showing you how not to get drowned. You must watch where the tide is coming in around you. The tide and wind makes for shifting sands every day. Big sandbars form, separated by deep channels which fill in with water. If you're on a sandbar and get cut off you will have to wade (or swim) through deep, fast flowing water to get back to dry land.
ALWAYS RESPECT THE WATER. In case of emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
