You are precious! We all are learning as we go. You are smart enough to admit that, and that’s great! I’m looking forward to seeing many more videos from my new teacher! Thank you 🙏

Thank you so much, just purchased my first hen & chick, over grown with many chicks and didn’t know what to do. Sharing your mistake prevented me from pulling leaves apart for propagating.

You can encourage offsets, buy pulling off leaves. I got a very Large gold Nugget, I pulled a a circle of leaves off near the top, and it started growing chics there, lots of them. :)

You should bury the stems after they've dried a bit and formed a callus. That way the roots would end up in the soil, unlike the ones that are staying on top in your video. Another thing to do that could help immensely is to use some IBA rooting hormone before planting those stems.

I have over 60 varieties of sempervivum and you def just want the mother plant to be in a big pot with 30% perlite and 50% potting soil and then 20% peat moss mix. When her babies get to around 4-5 inches big you want to gently pull the baby off with as much of its umbilical cord as you can. Then use a stick to make a long hole in the same kinda dirt mix as the mother and plop them in to right before the leaves touch the dirt and lightly pack it in. 🙂 lmk if you have any questions.

Sp for those long ones with lots of dead leaves like the two you had , how do you “fix”them
@tenneyplants
Жыл бұрын
You can remove the dead leaves, repot them so the bare stem doesn't show and then place them in a much sunnier spot 😊

If you want to make any ordinary soil better for succulents, just add a 10-50 percent perlite. It helps to stop the soil from getting compacted which helps it let the water through and allows the roots to get air.
