Galium....it melts into a liquid at very low temp and if the alloy is CLEAN the gallium absorbs into the alloy and changes the structure of the atoms leaving it brittle and easy to remove. Put frame upside down. Plug the top of seat tube. Use a syring with a long small diameter hose to remove the gallium from the vial and put the hose through the B.B. and right up to the area with the stuck alloy seatpost and inject the gallium into the area. Usure good coverage and keep the area warm. Clean very the area very well after so no gallium remains after the reaction which can vary in time. If you try this , good luck, is better to try this if you want to keep the paintwork intact. Check out videos of this gallium here on YT 👍

Been in this situation in the past , I used a carbide burr on a home made extension, carefully cutting away to weaken the seat post until it would free itself , typical aluminium and steel fusion

Yeah I’ve dealt with a few before. Caustic soda will melt it right out.

I'm having the same problem with an old frame. I'm trying to douse it with PB blaster I'm not in a hurry but I want it to come loose. If that doesn't work I guess I'm just going to have to sit where I sit the paint is too nice.

I’ll get it out with some caustic soda. It melts the aluminium but leaves the steel alone. I’ve done it before on a couple of bikes. It will strip the paint too though.

@@BABAG-yj2mg ahhhhh. You need lots of patience then. Soaking with lots of penetrant. Cooling. Heating. Clamping the seatpost in a vice and using the frame as leverage.

@@MonkeyShred that would be beautiful, but the seat tube is in the same condition as the one in your video. does not lever with the frame. I think I will use the carbide burr as written by a gentleman below. when I have a lot of time and patience
