Great Obasanjo. I remember Abacha. He was very brutal. Dissolving and ending everything with a wave of hand

Abacha displayed so much power, because he was an experienced soldier, who had been there throughout all those years of military cóup. He saw it all and learned how to silence opposition.

This is more than a comedy, it is important that we work on our flaws as a family man. This is a great lesson this valentine. However, no English Professor has what it takes to invent the word that we can use to qualify Mark in this episode. God bless you Mark, you are the best.....

OBJ had everything to put Nigeria democracy on a good foundation and build a better system for Nigeria but because of his selfish purpose choose to do otherwise. All his corruption children have become father of corruption now that he himself is not capable of talking to. The worse act that put the nail on the coffin is his support to Buhari against GEJ. Of all people who could have thought OBJ can support Buhari against GEJ just because to satisfy his co corrupt leaders from the north. The results is where we are today. Nigeria is on the verge of total collapse.
@Ucheolisa

@adesege1025 Yes, that his support of Buhari was a very wrong move. He was the one who made Gej the Vice President and went ahead to leave him when he needed his support. I believe your points, during his time, oil was selling at good price and Nigeria had good foreign reserve. He would have built strong economic foundation for this country.

@Ucheolisa
4 ай бұрын
Yes. That's true. An ex-convict cannot be a president in Nigeria. But in Obasanjo's case, he was granted a Presidential pardon by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, who succeeded Gen. Abacha. According to the law in Nigeria, if someone is granted presidential pardon, the prison term the person served, will be erased. The person becomes a free man again and cannot be termed an ex-convict.

Abdulsalami a military head of State promised to hand over to a civilian but ended up handing over to a military civilian.I don't understand the rationale but it's good it went to an experienced administrator but not a perfect one though.

Wrong information. Obasanjo was sentenced to death by firing squad not 30 years. During the military rule death sentence awaits anyone convicted. Diya and Adisa were also sentenced to death by Abacha.

It is wrong for you to state things you don't know about. Who told you that déath sentence awaits anybody convicted during the military rule? Abiola was convicted during same Abacha rule, Wole Soyinka was convicted during Gowon regime, Shehu Sani was convicted during Abacha regime, and many others. They were not given déath sentence. Many of them were released later on when the person who convicted them left office or was overthrown.

I was grown then buying newspapers. It was all over the media the death sentence given to Obasanjo, Diya, Adisa, General Olarewanju. You can Google it. Remember that then death was the penalty not jail terms. Obasanjo was found guilty so it's death.
@Ucheolisa

Obsanjo was in prison when Ken Saro-Wiwa was arrested and detained. Saro-Wiwa was then found guilty and sentenced to déath. Why was Saro-wiwa hànged but Obasanjo was not hanged? Obasanjo was not hanged because he was sentenced to 30 years and not to déath.

Your commentary lacks reality. Abacha never ruled with iron fist. His five and a half years of reigned stabilized dollar. As at 1997, one hundred dollars was just sixteen thousand naira only. He built Gwarinpa estate and national hospital. He discovered Banana Island. Created Bayelsa,Ekiti,Nasarawa,Gombe and Ebonyi states.

I expected you to clearly hear what I said. What I said was "ACCORDING TO REPORTS, he ruled with iron hands". Which clearly depicts that 'the iron hands' tag was the more general opinion in Nigeria press. Thanks.
