@@jlwilder8436 You don't have too, I mean no one is forcing you to fast everyday. There are different versions and she could be doing the 2 meal plus a snack version. She has chosen one meal a day. It really isn't so unheard of even never having heard of keto. There are many people who believe in one meal a day. For myself, I never ever could eat 3 meals plus snacks (besides being very young). I would be full all day and it is very uncomfortable. Add snacks and I always gained weight, a lot of it, even with exercise. Those were times I was trying to eat more healthy. Lol. So, about 12 years ago and having never heard of keto or benefits of fasting I just naturally started doing a one meal a day thing. Sometimes 2 meals. I had a snack here or there & I was definitely not low carb low sugar! Even still, unknowingly fasting was doing something good for me and my body. I felt better, a lot better! Now, being older and having different ailments I decided keto would help my body the most. I'm hoping for some amazing results! I was already used to fasting, I'm interested to see the changes that occur with no sugar and carbs (as low as possible). I do not need to lose any weight, it 10 lbs would be the max I could lose before I was heading to underweight. I just want to be as healthy as possible. I've seen and read amazing comments and videos of success stories for those who are trying to lose weight or get rid of type 2 diabetes. The stories are really interesting & include those like me who just want to feel really good. So, it really is up to you. No one is starving here and that's the point. You really aren't hungry through the day doing it correctly & if you are (if you're beginning & getting used to eating less often) you can tweak your meal plan or have a snack that won't break your ketosis. If you grew up and have always eaten 3 meals a day plus snacks this will likely be a bigger adjustment. There are many ways to do this. Dr Bergs, for me, is the smartest as he gives so much information on how to do it correctly.

55 year old woman here… I’ve been doing OMAD for several weeks but varying it with sometimes 2 meals about 6 hours apart. I don’t buy snacks, so there is no snacking. I drink lemon water, take potassium, kelp, selenium and vitamin D supplements. My meals largely consist of bacon, eggs, cheese, green salads, beef, pork, and an obscene amount of olive oil. Since doing this regime some things have changed: I have energy for much longer in the day, I never weigh myself, but have noticed that clothes do fit better, I am not bloated any more, and don’t get ankle swelling, I get way less - often zero - pimples on my face, I seem to be able to cope with stress and am less prone to emotion swings, I am much more lucid - less brain fog, and my focus with work tasks is much improved. MCT oil in coffee really helps when I feel a hunger or craving creeping in. I admit that weight loss would be lovely, but I’ll take all these other changes as wins, and have no plans to change. I’ve always been a wine lover, but I’ve gone off all forms of alcohol, and don’t bother even having it in the house now… WIne was always my go-to drink after a stressful day, now it’s a good cup of tea or lemon water :)

So if you weigh 200 pounds for example that means a minimum of 100 grams of protein during your eating window. If you want to really pack on muscle you would shoot for UP TO 1 gram per pound or 200 grams of protein. You'll have to play around with it because your body can only metabolize a certain amount per day and the rest is excreted, so in essence wasted.

The 5:2 was based for bodybuilders who after a week of hard training on KETO then used the bounce back receptor sensitivity to supercharge their glycogen storage for Mondays training session and the rest of the week again on keto. Currently in my 6th week of keto and had started out with doing 2 meals a day (16/8) then as I got used to the new eating plan and my body entered ketosis, I naturally didn't want to eat because I wasn't hungry. So it was only natural that I started stretching out the time more and more waiting until my body told me it was time to eat. For me, it's just been a natural transition.. And here I am down to OMAD and sometimes, I think I can even go longer without eating but not comfortable with that just yet. I will listen to my body as it knows best. Starting weight was 260lbs at 5'6" 54yrs old and currently 239lbs for a loss of just over 20lbs so far... Almost daily I'm blown away at how this lifestyle change has made so many positive results in my health so far. I can't wait to see myself a year from now... possibilities are endless...

Every other day isn't always just eating and not eating every other day, I fast 18 to 20hrs per day every other day, and it works great for me!! Keeps my calories high enough that I dont end up in an extreme caloric or nutrient defecit from constantly fasting. It's difficult to get in enough calories and nutrients constantly fasting, plus it keeps the fast more difficult, and it keeps me more flexible on meal timing. I did keto for about 4 months before having a couple of healthy high carb refeed meals that boosted my leptin, and helped me zoom past a weight loss plateau. I'll stay keto for a while before I do it again, but it works to help get past a plateau.

Yasmine Miah, if you’re new to Intermittent fasting, ease into it slowly and it’s okay to mix up the routine once in a while. For example, instead of Mon, Wed, Fri, try Tues, Thurs. Personally, I do a feeding window of 4 to 6 hours on a regular basis. With an occasional fasting day and it is no longer difficult. Remember, if you have the extra body fat stored, your body still gets to utilize those calories for energy. I wish you the best!

Lost 40 lbs in 40 days. Ate 2 meals, breakfast and a late lunch, 6:30ish and 2:30-3ish. 8 hrs between meals so not eating food on top of food, and done eating early so I wasn’t laying horizontal with a bunch of food not being digested properly. Also, slept better with blood sugar levels being lower. I’ve found the 2 meal plan works because I was still fasting but I was still getting nutrients my body needed to function properly. The neat thing was the increased energy and not even wanting to eat anymore. When your blood sugar levels are stable it is so much easier to actually know when I should eat and with a clearer state of mind those decisions were so easy to make. I know everyone’s different but between fat loss and cleaning out my intestines I lost a pound a day and thought I’d share it might help someone else. God bless.

I did a 21 day Keto ‘marathon’ with a set menu, 3 meals within 8 hours. That was a good adjustment as I was a snacker who had been adding a lot of protein because of a previous bout of adrenal fatigue. The added proteins helped take care of that. But didn’t realize when I didn’t need it any more. One of those snacks included cheese just before bed. But, with the limited menu that I was following found out that I have been allergic to milk products (after bloodwork from constant sinusitis and bronchitis), so every night I thought I was feeding my body health, instead I was feeding allergies that had kept me sick for over 2 years. Thankfully found a doctor who knew how to get me on track to clear out my lungs from all the crud that was there for those 2+ years. At the same time, watched a friend lose weight like crazy on Keto. So then I began it and have been faithful to it. In 24 days, I’ve lost 9 lbs and have gone down at least one size. I plan to lose another 30 lbs, and know that I can do it. I just shifted to the 20:4 ‘marathon’ menu plan three days ago, and only with this video that realize that ‘OMAD’ exists. Initially I didn’t want the first meal of the day, and ended up not ,feeling not so good after my full fasting day, but just today I was thinking how I really didn’t even want the two meals within the four hours. I may just go ‘OMAD’ pretty quickly. I’m surprised how great I feel, how much better I’m sleeping (the discipline that he talks about is helping me break lifelong habits as well), and the energy that I have on less but more substantial food. A great thing is that my doctor is now trying out keto as well, having seen the changes in me. I’m watching Dr. Berg several times a day to get as much information and understanding as possible. I would have never imagined not wanting food, nor making it through a fasting day with energy, focus, clarity, and stamina. So thankful!

Lost 130 pounds in about a year doing Keto and intermittent fasting. Also did some prolonged fasts of 3-5 days. It’s so easy to fast when doing Keto. Eating 3 meals a day with snacking in between is a habit, it’s not a requirement as so many people have been indoctrinated to believe. Never felt better in my life! Dr. Berg’s videos were a tremendous help. Every once in a while for holidays or other special occasions I’ll go back to my old way of eating and find those unhealthy foods have little appeal to me now. I used to be a bread fanatic. Now it’s like meh. Eating carbs rewires the brain to crave more carbs. It’s an addiction just like a junkie or alcoholic.

If you're struggling with cravings in the morning, I'd recommend trying to include glucomannan as noodles in your evening meals, or capsules after. It's carb and almost calorie free. It expands in the stomach to form a gel that makes you feel full for a lot of the following day. Also, exercise helps prevent cravings. Get a good routine in the morning for working out.

I was having 1 coffee in the morning, having lunch at about 2pm and skipping dinner, then working out doing push ups and arm curls and chin ups 3 sets of each till exhausted and my god the results were incredible in a matter of 3 weeks even the changes were amazing after only 3 months I looked like I was ultra fit, totally ripped and amazingly I wasn't always starving. It took me about 2 -3 weeks to get used to eating like that. All the time, sipping water and chewing gum.

I'm going on my 3rd week of 18:6. It was quite a struggle at first, but my spouse is on board, and that helps a LOT! I am definitely in perimenopause. So, I will try adding a 24-hour fast once a week, then hopefully a 48-hour fast. My midsection is my biggest problem. I work out 6 days a week, but it won't go away. Thanks for this video.

User name Yeah, cutting off the alcohol completely has been the game changer for me. Weight came off quicker and when drinking I would get cravings for junk food. No more of that plus now sober I can focus more on achieving goals and the mental clarity of ketosis plus no alcohol is incredible for many facets of life.

I started my intermittent fasting around the 3rd week of March this year. I’m 6’3 and was at 220lbs at that time. As of today, 6/24, I’m at 187lbs. I cut out ~90% of my sugar intake, zero snacking, no breakfast. I just eat lunch around 11am, and dinner around 4pm. The first week was tough, but after that it’s been easy to maintain. I wore a 36, now I’m in a 34 and those are starting to get loose…. I’m eyeing the 32s I used to wear in High school. Dr. Berg is the best!

Muhammad Mohaiminul Islam - my local health practitioner told me going several hours without eating is bad for our health... I told him I’ve never felt better after starting intermittent fasting. in fact I was only in his office because I was with someone else getting checked out (someone who is on a SAD diet)... something is wrong when you start to feel more competent than a health practitioner.... all I can say is thank you too all those that teach me about the healing benefits of fasting

Love the Keto. My favorite food: Eggs. I'm going through 12 eggs every three days. Maybe I should start raising chickens? I reached my goals, and now I'm at 5'8", 144 lbs and on Keto maintenance. 2MAD works for me. No doubt, fat is the best hunger control in the whole world. I make the best 2carb peanut butter, with 2carb chocolate and Stevia in the world. I take 2 ounce cups with me in my daily travels and work. Hungry? About an ounce makes it go away. Also, I swear by my Step Counter. 10,000 steps a day is my goal. Yesterday, I only hit 9,416 steps but I was too tired by the end of the work day to get it over the hump. But... I'm easing into this; eating at 11am & 5pm. I'm also slowly changing my diet as I finish things off in my fridge and pantry. Just joined a gym too - haven't done this in 25 years as I was busy with life. Not busy anymore, starting to focus on me now. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first steps.
