Steve Stevens was a WW2 SAAF Beaufighter pilot. He served in SAAF 19 Squadron in Italy 1944-1945. He is now 95 years old.
Steve was interviewed by my friend, Neil Pugh, in October 2014 at Steve's home in Worthing, England.
Here Steve tells the story how the famous and arguably the greatest Beaufighter rocket air strike photograph of WW2 was taken, him being the pilot of the aircraft in the photograph.
The photograph is unique as it shows simultaneously the target, the aircraft firing the rockets and visible in flight as well as the town of Zuzemberk in Yugoslavia.
Thanks to Steve for his kindness and willingness to be interviewed even as he was in bed and in pain. God bless you Steve!
Also thanks to his daughter Pamela for the communication and arrangements.
Thanks to Neil who did all the effort to professionally interview Steve.
