Hi! Back again with another health/life update video where I talk about more sensitive issues associated with living with disability. I have been diagnosed with POTS - Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (Dysautonomia) - and Fibromyalgia. There can be a lot of stigma surrounding these chronic illnesses, but their impacts are real!
I talk about how it's impacted my life in terms of my career (lack of) and relationships with the people around me (without identifying any of those people). I talk about gaslighting, associated with ableism - how people have negatively interacted with me regarding my chronic illnesses, and how toxic people impact my physical health.
I go into more detail regarding my situation - not working, not able to earn money, ineligible for government assistance due to partners financial status, and my sciatica (severe sciatic pain in my left leg).
My sciatic pain is worsened due to POTS - as POTS causes blood pooling and circulation issues in my legs. The pain is also more intense due to Fibromyalgia.
I have talked more about POTS - including my diagnosis, cause and symptoms in a previous video (so feel free to give that a watch). This video takes a different approach and touches on some more serious issues that don't get talked about very often.
