does the Warhammer 40k lasgun hit as hard as a .50 bmg anti material rifle? I've never seen that data, and have always seen them compared to autoguns, which are comparable to modern assault rifles. but I thought if a different angle. the power pack for a lasgun can be charged to explode, and can act like a grenade. so the energy inside... grenade energy. using modern explosives, they're filled with the equivalent of 80 grams of TNT. which explodes with the force of 320,000 joules of energy to create a casualty radius of 5 meters. divide 320k by the 150 shots in the standard lasrifle, 2,100 joules, or in units I know better, 1,550 ft lbs-spot on for 7.62x39, the ak47 round. now they can adjust their power. if you only wanted 20 shots instead of 150, that'd be incredibly close to .50 bfg. so they're both kinda true. now why am I assuming their grenades are comparable to our grenades? mostly because we have the volume of bolter rounds, and the explosive in there has less impressive results in visual media than if the Imperium just used comp B. so saying it's equal is kind of generous.
