Oh My Disney was NOT the main focus of this sequel! Will you please calm down about that already? I thought Ralph Breaks the Internet was good because it was better at telling a more-focused storyline, instead of making the commercials and the products the main focus of the story. That is why The Emoji Movie and Space Jam: A New Legacy got so many negative reviews and Ralph Breaks the Internet not so much, although I will admit that achievement by itself is a very low bar to pass and does not excuse making Wreck-it Ralph and Vanellope into much bigger jerks than they were in the first Wreck-it Ralph film. I still can not see how Ralph Breaks the Internet was the opposite of the first Wreck-it Ralph film because Wreck-it Ralph and Vanellope were not entirely different people from who they were before, and three of the five writers and the director are the same as the first movie. Ralph Breaks The Internet is a perfect example of how to ruin a franchise. Instead of a great continuation to the original film, you watch a failure of what made the original special. The sub-plot of Vanellope finally realizing that despite how she's different from the other racers due to her glitch, she can be as good if not better is just ruined here. Having her leave what she strived for all that time because "she was bored" made absolutely no sense and ruins her arc from the original film. Plus leaving your game by going "turbo" was portrayed as something selfish/negative but here it is shown as something as "I'm not like the other girls". As for Ralph making him go from an anti-hero with a heart of gold to a man-baby obsessed with a child is just an uncomfortable transition. Don't even get me started with the Internet references over actual comedy since even the princess scene felt soulless as Disney was trying to modernize them by making fun of Merida (one of the only princesses who wasn't interested in men).

😖Oh, man! Am I the only person in the comments of this video who actually enjoyed some parts of Ralph Breaks the Internet and did not have it ruin or tarnish the first Wreck-it Ralph film for me, simply because I knew of Wreck-it Ralph being one of the movies The Emoji Movie ripped off and wanted to see how Ralph Breaks the Internet was better and more creative at what The Emoji Movie tried to do? Perhaps my mom and I and Browntable were looking at Ralph Breaks the Internet with rose-colored glasses simply because we could not handle the possibility that a less obnoxious Emoji Movie with more creative visuals and animation and better-developed characters attached to it, could still be one of Disney's worst sequels of all time if we compared it more with Wreck-it Ralph than The Emoji Movie.
@adamkalb1

Isaac Carlson made an interesting case for why Vanellope joining Slaughter Race might not automatically make her as evil as Turbo like most of us think, but I still agree with your point that Ralph Breaks the Internet could have done something much better with Vanellope learning how she can make Sugar Rush more interesting for herself with her glitch powers, instead of ignoring the first Wreck-it Ralph movie's rule against game-jumping or Wreck-it Ralph making a new bonus track for her. Even though Sugar Rush missing its most popular racer, Princess Vanellope Von Schweetz might not be the end of the game's world like Fix-it Felix Jr. missing its villain or its hero, she should still not be ignorant of everybody in the game who likes racing with her, or everybody who plays the game and likes racing as her.

Not because of the man thing, like if you learn what a fucking nightmare production Brave was and how they basically pushed the original writer out of her project it REALLY hits hard how they chose to make fun of her like she was crazy and stupid. Brave was ACTUALLY gonna be a movie about a young woman and her mother a premise that was inherently beautiful and without a man as a major plot point while still having the dad like no disrespect just FINALLY a focus on women. What did they do? Let a man take over the project and make it more shallow, shoving the actual artist to the sidelines. It was vile.

The first movie left me leaving the theater really happy. However, when I saw the sequel, I dwelled in disappointment because of how mediocre and corporate it felt while throwing away everything that made the original great in my opinion. Sure, there are still a few redeeming qualities such as Spamley, Knowsmore, maybe the rick roll at the end, etc. But, the sequel will suffer for being too outdated with its depiction of the internet and its usage of memes that are long past their prime. The Oh My Disney section and any other social media reference completely takes me out of the film. Meanwhile, the original still retains its lingering sense of nostalgic quality to it since it's suppose to be a tribute to the golden age of videogames. That character ends up coming into the game and treats Felix and Calhoun like parents. The real trouble of this side of the story comes from all the danger and shenangians the kid gets into while Felix and Calhoun's parental instincts kick into overdrive and the couple try to keep the kid out of danger, but to little success.

I've always hated the Disney Princess section. When Vanellope is like "Just be yourself," I just sighed because I knew where it was going. She didn't want them to be themselves, she wanted them to be like her, with a t-shirt, a hoodie, and jeans. It didn't matter if those characters actually liked wearing dresses, or an archery outfit, and it didn't matter if they liked the various aspects of being a princess because they weren't 'being themselves' according to Vanellope. A lot of girls like wearing makeup, and they like dressing up in colorful outfits, some guys do as well. It bugs me so much when I see movies tell those people "Dressing up in fancy outfits and wearing makeup is bad. Comparing him to Death is redundant because Death was in a completely different league and served his role in that narrative in a much different way.

But what really annoys me is how the movie tries so hard to ignore the most important rule from the first movie. DO NOT GO TURBO. And when you think about it, the characters actually went turbo in the sequel compared to the original. In the first movie, Ralph really never went turbo, as he was just trying to get a metal as fast as possible and came back before anyone else find out he was missing, everything he was dealing with in Sugar Rush was more of him getting sidetracked. In the sequel, Ralph and especially Vanel actually went turbo by interfering with the gamer, leaving their games in bright daylight, having Vanel selfishly leaving her game and everyone behind to fulfill her selfish needs, and never even telling or saying good bye to them anyway. It really annoys me when a movie or a show is covering certain topics, but when doing so, they have to assassinate the characters, make the characters unlikable, and when there are more valid points to be made and look into or rules that were set up in the previous installment, they purposely ignore it because the writers knows about that but to make their point clear to fit their story they chose to ignore it.

One of the worst things about this movie is the removal of the second seat in Sugar Rush. Even if Ralph gone turbo, even in Vanellope gone rogue, even if Litwak was stupid enough to break it, none of that would've mattered because they could've just used the second seat and the game would work perfectly as normal, but they got rid of it for plot convenience. Also another thing that bugs me is how Vanellope manages to leave Sugar Rush in her normal fit. By the rules of the first movie, the only way to leave Sugar Rush at all is to have her princess getup on so the plug doesn't mistake her as a glitch and its been fully established that her normal outfit is still the glitchy one.
@Hauntaku
Жыл бұрын

@@Hauntaku nah cuz like. She was able to leave the game at the end, she just had to wear the princess fit, aka Felix & Calhoun's wedding where it doubled as her "best clothes". The second movie ignores that completely. Also everyone remembered her as a princess at the end, not a tomboy.

The steering wheel part I can understand. I know people who have home arcades and barcade businesses and buy and restore old arcade cabinets. This kind of part for an arcade is pretty specialized. You can't just go out and buy another unless the game was REALLY popular and aftermarket suppliers make reproductions. Usually the only source is the manufacturer, and if they've gone out of business or no longer make the part owners are left either cannibalizing old machines or hoping new old stock from a warehouse or barn find shows up on eBay. If a broken game isn't bringing in enough to warrant buying a replacement part they'll cut it. That being said, this movie is an abomination. I can think of dozens of better plotlines for a sequel to Wreck-It Ralph.

Technically.....Venellope is a princess. A princess in a disney movie. She should have been in the princess scene already. A side note that I can't put anywhere else: People say the princess scene assassinates all the character princesses and basically devalues what they do in their own respective films. Like the "big strong man saves the day" line from Rapunzel, or Cinderella breaking her glass slipper to use as a makeshift weapon, despite how much it meant to her.( I ironically find that joke to be one of the best in this movie). But it dawned on me that the princesses actually aren't supposed to act like they did in the movie. Look at Ralph, for example. Does he act like Wreck it Ralph from Fix it Felix Jr.? No. Ralph has a heart in the first movie and isn't the villain despite being coded in his game to be a villain. We see this at the Bad-Anon meeting. So the princess scene makes more sense when you think of their respective movies as their job, and not their life like it was portrayed in their movies. So, them all acting like stereotypical girls during a sleepover isn't that bad of an idea. it was just poorly executed.

You know what makes it worse? There are deleted Scenes where Ralph and Vanellope stumble upon the defunct Disney Infinity servers and many of the Disney Infinity members who were abandoned by Disney when they shut down the servers, which I feel would have served a parallel to how Ralph and Q'Bert interacted in the first movie... I mean, seriously, we could have had a _better_ plot line where rather than Ralph acting like a ManBaby and Vanellope acting like a Stuck-Up, we could have had many of the Infinity characters be angry at how they were "Replaced and abandoned" (Which they pretty much were), and basically try to go Full Turbo on the more "Popular" characters, which would result in the catastrophic event at the end anyway, only based on the members of Disney Infinity that still bear a grudge at being abandoned, and how the "Popular" Disney Attractions effectively caused their Server to be lost. I mean, it would have been cool to see a Sort of Civil War be sparked between the Disney Infinity characters, as Ralph and Vanellope were also supposed to interact with the Infinity Characters as well, which meant we could have had more than mere cameo appearances, but also had fully interacted scenes between them. It would be way better if the Story, rather than going from Vanellope going from being brainwashed by Spoiled Disney Princesses straight back to Slaughter Race, we had Vanellope encounter the Defunct Disney Infinity servers, and see the darker side of the Glitz and Glammor she was first shown... And perhaps, even have a scene where she is given a Ralph and Q'Bert moment, where she sees a rather sad group of Infinity Characters (A Good idea would be Robin Hood, as he was a playable character in Disney infinity, and his Film was a Cult Classic that was not very well known beyond... Well, Furries), and she shows how much she'd learned from Ralph, by giving them something to eat, much like Ralph did with Q'Bert. It would show how much Ralph meant to Vanellope (I see their relationship as more "Intergenerational Friendship" or a "Big Bro/Little Sis" relationship, rather than anything romantic, so drop all the weird talk) that his good will had rubbed off on her... And I can see Ralph turning up, looking for Vanellope, sees the state of the Defunct infinity Servers and has a momentary flashback to his time back when he was effectively a Pariah to the Nicelanders. I can actually see the plotting of the more grudgeful Disney Infinity members that would eventually lead to the big climax, and Ralph, upon finding out, tries to stop them, trying to convince them that he can help... And only finally getting to the one leading the Infinity Rebellion, when he flat out tells them "I know what its like!", in a similar vein to Colonel O'Neil in Stargate SG-1, Window of Opportunity. Then again, the idea was likely abandoned for the same reason Cars 3's Ending was changed (That rather than McQueen joining Dinoco, we have... That ending.), And that was because "We cannot make Disney or any Corpo similar in Work Ethics to Disney, look bad"... Nevermind that Disney already has done a good job showing how bad they have become anyway, without trying to.

I calculated how much money sugar rush would be getting per year based on the owner saying the game makes less than 200 dollars in that time. I based the cost per game as one quarter to account for the cheapest the game could be. To make 200 dollars, you'd need at least 800 games played, which sounds like a lot until you realize that if he's open every single day of the year, he only needs 2 people to play the game. _Ralph Breaks the Internet,_ was the Disney sequel that literally…..(ugh) I don’t know what to make of this sequel, it’s like _Muppets Most Wanted_ but much more flanderized and doesn’t have the heart and soul of the first _Wreck-It Ralph_ and frankly I felt bewildered and betrayed by _Ralph Breaks the Internet_ especially during the end of the film, because literally Ralph and Vanellope’s personality turn a whole 360 in the sequel compared to their personalities from the first movie. Ralph who acted as humble, kind hearted gentle giant from the first film just became a selfish, clingy, and malicious jerk with most of his actions being done for the wrong reasons, Vanellope who was the mischievous, snarky racer just became very selfish and very immature while at the same time ends up being the one "Going TURBO" and because of their personalities being the opposite of who they were from the first film, it literally turned me off from this movie, along with the fact many of the side characters like Felix and Calhoun were sidelined and felt unimportant to the movie. Even the new characters introduced (Knowsmore, Yesss, and Shank) and the scenes of Vanellope with the Disney Princesses weren’t enough to save this film. If I had a guess regardless if Phil Johnston, Rich Moore and Jim Reardon returned from the first movie one of them decided to have the sequel take a different turn and at the same time, turn a 360 by flanderizing Ralph and Vanellope’s personality and it’s one of the reasons why I prefer watching the first _Wreck-It Ralph_ over this film. Frankly if I was in a room and had a choice between _Ralph Breaks the Internet_ _Home on the Range_ and _Chicken Little_ and had to pick two from Disney Animation’s mediocre films I would choose the latter two over the former, and if I was in a room and had a choice between a bad animated sequel from Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Illumination and had to choose one I would watch _Shrek the Third_ over _Ralph Breaks The Internet._

In my opinion the wreck-it ralph franchise is one the most mistreated franchises that disney has. It's not as bad as with treasure planet or atlantis, but still.. bad. How they didn't make a new sugar rush kart videogame, how they didn't make as much merch as they would for every other movie (yes even before frozen) and with the second movie... i loved it. But i loved it as a hurt fan who mainly loved the graphics and was excited to see any marketing for a franchise that was already half buried by then.

I remember how hype I was for a SEQUEL to Wreck it Ralph.......the possibilities of IDEAS.........Ralph arcades vs Console Game...Online Games been introduce, maybe a MARIO cameo (now in hindsigh I understand why Nintendo didn't gave permission to Disney, well done NINTENDO), How many new make up games could be feature as well how many more videogames references and cameos they could add, and continuing the story, the concept of going TURBO, sooo many ideas.................then Disney release the trailer, it should be a RED FLAG but I was.....you know what, is DISNEY, They still where producing great films at that time so....I TRUST THEM....they release the first trailer, not get me not even a bit excited, the second seeing a DISNEY PRINCESS crossover (and Idea I actually would have love to see done in a SOLO film for that premise not here) get me a little excited.........then I saw the film........................I was I think 36 years old....I only have watch before that film 2 other movies that make me ANGRY.....Iron Man 3 and Transformers Dark of the Moon......but man did I was ANGRY after watching this one in particular, because how much I LOVE the first one, this one was not just a let down of major proportions, this was a film that destroyed everything good the first film did, destroyed all the world building, destroyed all secondary characters relevancy, demolished the intelligent of all characters, erased the concept of going Turbo so that was never explore again, and worst than all....destroyed...no, ASSASINATED the characters of Ralph and Vanellope, making them almost irrecognizable, and so unlikable and worst, SO DUMB AND STUPID specially RALPH, this was the film that make me start seeing the forced FEMALE EMPOWERMENT agenda that is driven Disney to bankruptcy, the first time was OBVIOUS and in your FACE, making a previously naive but competent male protagonist that was interesting, and relatable into a douche, man baby, needy and greedy, and pervy almost uncomfortable to see how he feel like he own VANELLOPE....but Van was not much better, knowing how bad going Turbo almost destroyed her home, just to her copy what the villain of the first film did and be rewarded for her actions (you know because if a MALE do it is bad, but if a woman does the same is GOOD....no double standard at all).....and the story was just THE EMOJI MOVIE 2.0, how we go from Videogames to....product placement and DISNEY cameos and references? we all wanted Mario or Cloud or any game character to appear, not only we get nothing of that (just reuse the same cameos we got in the first one) and instead they put, MARVEL and STAR WARS and DISNEY PRINCESSES?.....And logos and product placement of Amazon, Ebay, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube....like WTF?.....I hate this movie and I'm so happy, different to other films that failed to have an audience but in time became beloved classics.....this one is having the polar opposite, was a hit that was "well receive" by critics the year that release, but in time, have become one of the most hated films ever made, every new video I found of this film is literally negative on the story and characters, instead of a positive video, and sadly is well deserved......the only bad downside, is that....now days I not like to re watch the original, because I know where it will go after and, is sad, makes that BEAUTIFUL final scene, MEANS NOTHING NOW, you can't see that tear jerking scene and feel anything now, knowing that in the sequel, Vanellope will go Turbo and Ralph will separate from her, her friendship ruined for no reason at all, and that to me, is the worst offense this sequel did, in retrospective, RUIN the first film, and is not a case like Terminator 1 and 2 that most fans will say, it ENDED IN 2 and the rest is just fan fiction at best..........no this is canonically how the story went, is the same team, writers, animation studio, voice cast, everything was back, to give us the worst possible sequel, anyone could imagine. and that is unforgivable.

I do not understand. Three of Ralph Wrecks the Internet's writers are the same people who wrote the first movie! How could Phil Johnston, Rich Moore and Jim Reardon suddenly forget what was great about the first Wreck-it Ralph? How is Ralph Breaks the Internet bad enough for Animated Atrocities *and* good enough for Film Perfection at the same time? How does it get a low score on Schaffrillas Productions but a high score on ElectricDragon505? Why is it regarded as a bad sequel by Rockotar, but a good sequel by Browntable? April 18, 2023, 4:42pm I guess Ralph Breaks the Internet is just that complex to be on every middle ground for negative reviews and positive reviews. 1. Interesting new world-building, at the expense of abandoning most of the first movie's characters until the end. 2. Positive messages about not caring about judgment by other people on the internet who do not know you, clashing with negative messages about how to make money on the internet. 3. Colorful animations and creative visuals for internet product placements that turn viewers off. 4. A smart lesson about not clinging to friends who want to leave their old job for a new job, driven by stupid decisions made by Vanellope, Ralph and Stan Litwak in a fictional world with rules that does not support Vanellope's choice to do this. 5. The persistence of being a less predictable sequel to have no villains and instead have a personal conflict between Vanellope and Wreck-it Ralph, which goes too far to ignore how it turns Vanellope and Ralph into the villains of their own story by exaggerating the negative aspects of their characters from the first movie, if you do not think the second movie rewrote them as entirely different characters. This is why I believe Ralph Breaks the Internet could get so many positive reviews and negative reviews from different people. They knew how to hit all the right spots and all the wrong spots, to appeal to just as many people as it unappeals to other people. It just knows how to create multiple perceptions and angles for different people to have such a big variety of popular opinions about it, so maybe it is more clever than we think for how it out-smarted AND out-pandered us all.

This movie is my least favorite movie of all time. I hate how it ruins the first movie if regarded as even semi-cannon. It makes no goddamn sense, and why the fuck did they make Ralph creepy? That may be the most egregious error on their end. They butchered every character, but they butchered Ralph the worst. Also, I don't agree with the claim that the princess scene was the one good thing. Even the princesses weren't in character! It was incredibly apparent marketing to the point of insult. A better sequel could have been one where the arcade faces the threat of shutdown, maybe they could've lost in the end and it could've had a message about how everything ends (or maybe a message on change that puts Toy Story 4 to shame). Or, better yet, no sequel! Have the characters actually be in character and don't give everyone the idiot ball, or maybe just don't. Evidently, this movie was a cash-grab by every stretch of the word. Its entire purpose was to garner sponsorships, it had no shame. I just wish they put even an iota of care into it.

If I did the math correctly, in order to buy that steering wheel, Mr. Litwak would need Sugar Rush to have at least two people play it a day, every day of the year. If the arcade is only open on weekdays, and not weekends, it would need at least 3 people to play each day. If the arcade is closed on weekdays and only open on weekends, it would need at least 8 people per day. ...Pretty sure Sugar Rush would have more that 8 kids play it in one given day. Heck, in the first movie, Sugar Rush would have earned 18 quarters _at least_ in that day because of those two kids playing all 9 racers. ...Speaking of which, what happened to the second console/half of the console??? Sugar Rush was supposed to be multiplayer, but in Ralph Breaks the Internet, it seems to be single-player?

Not only does it completely misunderstand what made the original film worked, goes against it's own rules about going turbo (which was an important piece to the plot in the first film btw), and turns Ralph and Vanellope into complete idiots, but it's portrayal of the internet is genuinely one of the worst things ever to be put on the big screen. About the eBay scene; another thing they got wrong about how auctions on eBay work is that when you place a bid on something, the price only goes up *when* someone is outbid. The large sum of money they bid for on the wheel shouldn't even have been the final price it sells for. When the price hit $325, it should have stayed that way unless the person that was trying to get it outbid Ralph or kept placing bids that causes the price to increase. For example; when Vanelope placed $1k on it, the price of the wheel should *only* increase a little bit after the maximum amount the other person placed on it.
