@@MarinafromPakistan In the UK, the situation improved now. However, the number of students coming to the UK after re-introducing post-study visa (PSW) has gone up by several folds. Further, the UK economy is also not doing very well at the moment. So, it may be difficult to get part-time work during the studies and a full-time job after completing studies. This year >1L Indian students came to the UK for studies. If each pays 10K pounds per year (I know students pay much more as a tuition fee for masters in science/tech. subjects), which is equivalent to 1 Billion pounds. So, the UK and other Western countries are interested in improving their economy by attracting overseas students, who pay higher tuition fees than the home students.

He was living Surrey, I asked why can't he attend it himself and also said he has a lower chance of passing the class so he a rather pay for it and have someone else achieve his grades for him. This country is going in the wrong direction. Shame on people who come here and take advantage of the genuine system we have.

Fifth estate is actually one of the last credible and legitimate journalists around. Im proud you guys are still able to dive into these issues with cited stories and supporting evidence. It sucks we can only get so far before it gets too messy to follow or it’s a “legal” loophole, at that point it becomes theory without proof so it’s hard to nail down whatever establishments are responsible. I really feel for students who are scammed. But being an international students myself, and as a young adult, I did my research on the rent, job market, living costs of the city I was going to: Vancouver. I knew it wasnt gonna be easy from the get go, I struggled but dedicated to school and to my part time job. My personal experience was that most of these students do not focus on their assignments and rely on others to do their part. It was 10x more stressful and, sadly, my strategy to survive (and my friends’) school was to avoid doing school projects with students from one particular country. And worst yet, professors would turn a blind eye to this systemic situation cause I guess everyone was paying their tuition fees.

The Thing is that farms in India owned by individuals can range from meagre 1 Acre to massive 25 acres. And Agriculture still is the backbone of Indian employment despite the Service sector revolution and our previous administrations have not achieved a significant transiston to Industrial sector. Still nothing compared to American farmlands whose contribution to employment is just about 3.0 % I think but Owns around like 100-400 hectares of Land ( 1 hectare = 2.471 acre ) . Also like US farmers have full support of the US Govt. Indian govt , or more like Indian bureaucracy has a history of screwing farmers despite all the schemes Govt of India wholeheartedly invests in.

Being from a lower middle class family in India, I took the option. Even 13 years down the line, that was the best decision of my life. I had chance to work with best researchers and professors in world, work in highly funded research labs, publish papers and patent and later get good job in my domain. But why are these people running off to Canada to study when you can also do it in India? Some even better quality!!
@classScribbler

Actually, the top Indian colleges are very competitive and difficult to get into. Most of these students you see going out of India could not actually convert the better Indian Universities. With growing "social" culture, there is always a need to show a better life to the community. You can't do that with an average life in India. So a lot of these kids choose to go outside with the hopes of the New World. Alas, the reality is the same everywhere.

It is very sad to see that Govt of Canada (both federal and provincial) Officials talk the talk and don't walk the walk. So many violations are taking place, yet no action...

yep.. worst part is all these Indians were forced to be vaccinated too... I feel really bad for their parents... But honestly the idea that there is a one single government in the world that cares about people needs to stop... because there wasn't one single one in entire human history

This documentary is very informative. People often judge these students quickly, but it's important to look at the bigger picture to understand their real stories. Great job on this. The final part, when her father spoke to her, really brought tears to my eyes.

It’s true that Most students do not come here to study, study visa is just a stepping stone for pr, the dream of settling abroad comes with big price tag. Students have been exploited by agents, collages, employers. System is rigid, not only for a particular group but for everyone of us.

I've been living in Canada for 5 years, became a citizen, with high paying job and I still struggle with high amount of bills and taxes. I don't understand international students really like Canada. It's so expensive, the winter is the worst! Canada is a beautiful scenery that you only want to visit not live with it!

I spent 6 years in university and 7 years in college after that. I had absolutely no idea this was going on. I also didn’t really understand why international students had to pay such a high tuition fee. As a domestic student, I already struggled to pay my tuition fees.

Its basically because the government wants to limit newcomers and if the tuition fees werent this high for international syudents Canada would have a flood of students.
