As a French looking back at the relationship between the UK and the EU, that's pretty accurate. Everyone is getting mad at the UK because they asked for another exception or preferential treatment (or brexit extension) And the UK is like : "Do I look like I care ?" Interesting thing about the word "fish" is that the original word meant any animal living in water. A similar thing happened to "deer", which back then referred to animals more generally. So the "fish" in starfish means "sea-animal" rather than what we think of as a fish. Changes like this happen over time due to the natural ebbs of linguistic fad as well as things like surplus or lack of specific trade goods (requiring people to be more specific in some way). At times like that it's not uncommon to borrow a foreign word to cover the specificity gap for the purposes of trade, thereby de facto limiting the scope of the word originally used. Then modern science came along and sort of solidified a lot of the language we use for its own convenience.

And I can see why, it does look like the head of a Loong ! Paired with a long, scaly body, it feeps like an embryo for a bigger serpentine animal. Really cool name, really smart, and even important in the local culture ! In french, we call it "hippocampe", which is a french-inated version of the Hippokampos, a greek mythological creature that looks... like a sea horse. But, like, an actual, neighing, mained, horse, but with a fish tail. A mermaid horse, if you will. I'm not sure but I think the english "seahorse" comes from that creature as well, and they just... translated the name
