Skull Hill Dairy was milking in a parallel parlor and wanted to transition to milking robots. They were looking for a way to increase their milking efficiency and consistency while improving labor costs.
To research their options, Charles Zimmerman and his wife watched KZitem videos of different robots as their ‘date nights.’ After seeing the GEA robot box times and In-Liner Everything, they knew their robots had to be GEA.
They retrofitted their existing barn with five GEA R9500 box robots. Since the transition to milking robots, they’re saving labor costs, producing better quality milk and making more informed decisions for their dairy herd.
Andy Lenkaitis, AMS herd management systems engineer for GEA, helped the Zimmerman family transition from conventional to robotic milking. He shares how they made the transition, how the robot works and how it’s going for them.
