Being able to troubleshoot in your head on the way to the job is a very underated skill. You should never wait until you pull up on the job to start thinking about the job. I find that the toughest thing to get the younger guys I work with is being on the job on the way to the job.

If you charge the people who can afford it so you can not charge the people who can't afford it...... So tell me how much of an increase of income did you make during the big Texas freeze a couple of years ago? How many leaks did you fix for free? And why would you charge someone more than the hourly rate just because it's colder outside than normal?

Calm down kid. Get a trade job , work your way through school, start your own business then all these questions you have, you will be able to answer yourself.

It’s not just about because it colder outside… go learn, trucks aren’t free, insurance isn’t free, tools aren’t free, materials aren’t free, employees and their insurance aren’t free, etc. it’s not just about fixing the leak either, they could have to drive 2-3 hours to each job!

@@CiCiLeathercraft Thanks for the class brother but been owning my own business with insurance, trucks, tools bla blah for the last 30+ years don't preach to me about that's total waste of time.. My problem is why charge people double your than your usual price just because it was because of shitty weather, Your insurance didn't go up that week, your tools cost was the same and yea maybe you paid employees for a little overtime but other than that nothing was different than a normal Tuesday, but using a disaster like the to gouge people is just sorry and don't tell me they didn't. And then go out there and say plumbers are heros... C'mon man go some where else with that shit.

@@jwblount7802 I’m not disagreeing with you I actually see things pretty much the same as you do, I don’t think it’s right to charge double in these situations really but you can’t work for free. I think a disaster situation like this would be a perfect opportunity for a plumber to go and make a name for himself without charging an arm and a leg. a young guy like me would love all of that opportunity especially since I have a lot invested into tools like the propress. I’m just in that weird stage where I just started doing more jobs on my own and it’s easy to sell yourself short.
